    Job Summary:

    The Licensed Practical Nurse will obtain vitals, room patients, collect appropriate swabs, triage patients before entering facility. Advise parents over the phone with provided standing orders. Administer injections and vaccines. Will order supplies, maintain and order vaccines. This position will require that you work independently, it will require someone who is self-motivated, professional and dependable.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Administers medications, vaccines and injections, noting times and amounts on patients’ charts.
    • Observes patients, charting and reporting changes in conditions such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment and takes necessary actions. Reporting adverse reactions as needed and documenting as needed.
    • Answers patients’ calls and determines how to assist them.
    • Measures and records patients’ vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration, pulse ox when needed.
    • Provides basic patient care or treatments such as taking temperatures or blood pressures, dressing wounds, venipuncture, capillary collections or performing catheterizations.
    • Works as part of a health care team to assess patient needs, plans and modify care, and implement interventions.
    • Evaluates nursing intervention outcomes, conferring with other health care team members.
    • Assembles and uses equipment such as catheters, pulse ox, and nebulizers.
    • Completing referrals and scheduling appointments.
    • General knowledge of nursing and health care terminology.
    • Excellent patient care skills.
    • Administration of medication, injections and vaccines.
    • Perform ear irrigation, catheterization.
    • Appropriate lab collection.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    Education and Experience:

    • Postsecondary certificate from vocational school or associate degree in nursing required.
    • Current state licensure required.
    • CPR and HIPAA

    Physical Requirements:

    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • May require prolonged periods of standing, moving and bending.

    This position will need to be filled by someone who is dependable, reliable and knowledgeable with medical care provided in a small office setting. Must have the qualities of compassion and understanding when providing care or advice to parents and their children. Computer knowledge will be very helpful as all charting is done in the EMR. Faxes, referrals and refills are done through our computer system also.
