SUMMARY:                                                                                                                   

The Environmental Monitoring Technician reports to the Quality Control Manger and will contribute to general operations and testing of the QC Microbiology laboratory. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: collect and process environmental samples in a timely manner, microbiological testing in accordance with SOPs and cGMP regulations, working with the Micro team to meet group goals and accomplish routine and time-sensitive laboratory duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Perform Environmental Monitoring

• Prepare and read gram stains

• Perform growth promotion of microbiology media for acceptance testing and release

• Perform comprehensive data analysis, prepare statistical analysis of results and write technical reports

• Responsible for autoclave operation to sterilize dry goods as well as liquid goods

• Maintain log books related to inventory and equipment

• Maintain positive relationship and network effectively across departments

• Documentation of laboratory deviations, incidents and investigations

• Ensure GMP compliance of all activities performed

• Ensure appropriate facility support and provide technical expertise

• Performs other additional job-related duties as required

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:

• Basic computer knowledge of MS Office Suite
• Ability to communicate and work with team members in an effective manner
• Ability to work independently on scientific projects
• Ability to gown and gain entry to classified manufacturing areas
• Familiarity with USP and global compendial regulations
• Scientific technical writing ability including authoring and revising SOPs or technical reports
• Experience with environmental monitoring

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• This position has no supervisory responsibilities however as an Environmental Monitoring Technician there will be times you will be leading or directing a person or team concerning Environmental Monitoring implementation and/or correction.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• This position operates in a laboratory and production environment where Proper Protective Equipment is worn at all times.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Frequently sitting, standing and walking throughout multiple areas on the production floor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Preferred 4 year college degree or equivalent laboratory experience
