    Full-Time Temporary Position Available (Position Ends 9/29/22) Prevention Specialist South Texas Prevention Navigation Substance Abuse, HIV, and Viral Hepatitis Prevention Program (Webb County) ●Seeking highly motivated and responsible individual that wants to work in the field of substance abuse, HIV, and hepatitis prevention. Founded in 1982 in Laredo, Texas, SCAN is a leading provider of social services in South Texas. SCAN’s South Texas Prevention Navigation Program was established to prevent and reduce the onset of substance abuse as well as the prevention of the transmission of HIV and viral hepatitis infection among Hispanic youth (13-17 years of age) and young adults (18-24 years of age) residing in Webb County. The South Texas Prevention Navigation program focuses on providing evidence-based prevention services and linking program participants to available resources to meet their comprehensive needs. Primary Responsibilities: • Conduct ongoing outreach in the community to let youth, young adults, agencies and organizations know about the program and the services that it provides. • Assist the Program Director in recruiting and retaining program participants and developing collaborative relationships in the community among key stakeholders. • Provide Screening, Prevention Education, Prevention Counseling, Rapid HIV and Hepatitis C Testing, Case Management, and Problem Identification and Referrals. Qualifications: • A bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, sociology, criminal justice, or related behavioral science field is required. • At least 6 months to 1 year of work experience providing substance abuse and/or HIV prevention services to adolescents and/or adults is preferred. • Experience providing curriculum-based prevention education is preferred. • Good bilingual (English and Spanish) skills are required. • Must have good computer skills. • A valid TX driver’s license, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation are required. Work Schedule and Compensation: • The regular work schedule is 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Some weekend work may also be required. • Salary range: $16.35 to $16.82 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
