    Position Summary:

    The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for developing and implementing the marketing and communication vision for SCRA. Responsibilities include planning, development, and implementation of all SCRA marketing strategies and marketing communications, both external and internal. Oversees the development and implementation of support materials and services in marketing and communications. Directs the efforts of the marketing and communications staff and coordinates at the strategic and tactical levels with the other functions of SCRA.

    Essential Functions:

    Marketing and Communications

    1. Reflects, articulates, and promotes the mission, vision, and core values of SCRA.

    2. Creates, implements, and measures the success of a comprehensive marketing and communications program that will enhance SCRA’s image and facilitate internal and external communications.

    3. Manages the strategic and creative design of marketing and communications activities and materials including:

    ⦁ Website, social media, video production ⦁ Program materials⦁ Annual Report⦁ Media relations

    1. Leads editorial direction, design, production, and distribution of all publications.

    2. Coordinates media interest and ensures regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests.

    3. Responds to SC Freedom of Information Act requests and manage the submission of requested information.

    4. Coordinates the marketing of the Industry Partnership Fund with internal and external resources.

    5. Leads special projects as assigned, such as special events, branding, and communications plans.

    Planning and Budgeting

    1. Achieves marketing and communications mission, goals, and financial objectives. Ensures that evaluation systems, including benchmarks, are in place related to these goals and objectives and reports progress to the Executive Director.

    2. Develops short- and long-term plans and budgets for the marketing and communications program and its activities, monitors progress, assures adherence, and evaluates performance.

    3. Manages sponsorships and memberships for the organization.

    4. Develops, implements, and monitors systems and procedures necessary to the smooth operation of the marketing and communications function.

    5. Keeps informed of developments in the fields of marketing and communications, and not-for-profit management and governance, and uses this information to help the SCRA operate with initiative and innovation.

    Organizational Strategy

    1. Provides support to the Executive Director, the Leadership Team and others in public affairs matters as well as marketing and writing activities.

    2. Helps to ensure that SCRA’s mission and vision are pertinent and practiced throughout the organization.

    3. Develops and coordinates means to seek regular input from the SCRA’s key constituencies regarding the quality of programs and services.

    Qualifications:

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications or a related field and 8 years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience.

    2. Experience working in a marketing, advertising, design or corporate communications role.

    3. Experience in coordinating and managing fundraising campaigns is a plus.

    4. Demonstrated knowledge of economic development and business cycles is highly desirable.

    5. Impeccable written and verbal communication skills; must display mastery of grammar and composition syntax.

    6. Strong graphic design skills.

    7. Strong knowledge of customer relationship management software products.

    8. Strong computer skills, including the MS Office suite.

    9. Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite and knowledge of current software products to maximize effectiveness.

    10. Knowledge of web development including online communications, tools and techniques.

    11. Ability to travel overnight primarily within SC.

    12. Must provide examples of previous marketing campaigns and social media efforts.
