The Braille Institute is seeking a Library Services Coordinator for their Anaheim (92801) location.
Duties Include:
- Supervising the operations and coordinating all aspects of library services and technology education for the Library and Connection Pointe;
- Providing assistance and information to library patrons with requests for books, reference materials, research and assistive devices for the visually impaired;
- Receiving, reviewing and processing new library applications from patrons;
- Instructing new patrons on use of library programs, services, materials and equipment;
- Conducting individual consultation with students as needed to determine technology skill levels, needs and abilities;
- Making recommendations for instructional programs and equipment to meet the needs of students with a wide variety of skills, abilities and needs;
- Preparing and analyzing data input for library;
- Scheduling and providing students with one-on-one and small group training on advanced computing techniques, and use of screen readers, large print display software and adaptive and mainstream technologies;
- Conducting presentations on Library Services and Access technology;
- Maintaining current knowledge of computer software and adaptive and mainstream technology for the visually impaired;
- Working collaboratively with technology vendors; Coordinating with IT for installations;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Library or Computer Science or related field or the equivalent in additional experience required;
- Requires strong knowledge of library operations and/or advanced computer skills, and various adaptive and mainstream technologies;
- At least two (2) years of work experience with library operations and/or technology instruction is strongly preferred;
- One (1) year of experience working with the visually impaired;
- Supervisory experience and experience working with the visually impaired is desirable;
- Requires good communication, interpersonal, computer, organizational, research and leadership skills;
- The ability to meet the needs of visually impaired library patrons and/or the ability to effectively train visually impaired student with a wide variety of skills and abilities is essential;
- Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is required;
- Certificate in Assistive Technology (i.e. CATIS/Certificate in Assistive Technology Instruction Specialist from ACVREP or ATACP/Assistive Technology Applications Certificate program from CSUN preferred or will be an expectation to obtain within 6-12 months of hire/transfer.
