    JOB ACTIVITIES

    WHAT YOU WILL DO:

    You will be working with fiber optic cables and subsea cables, experience of fiber optic cabling, soldiering,  splicing, color code, switch assembly, cable and wire systems is essential.

    Position requires strong mechanical abilities with knowledge and experience to operate automated assembly machinery, perform complex multiple service and maintenance task as needed. Candidate must be able to skillfully use a variety of manual power and technology tools to trouble shoot and correct machinery issues to ensure quality and productivity. Candidate must be familiar with safety procedures in the use of moving machinery, material safety data sheets, mobile overhead heavy equipment, tools and properly always wear safety personal protective equipment.

    Perform quality checks according to established processes and document the results as required by the established company quality procedures of cable assemblies. The assembly technician will perform assembly and test operations on moderate to complex subassemblies following engineering drawings, parts specifications, assembly procedures and or verbal instructions.

    Candidate must ensure excellence to the highest industry standards in design, manufacture, quality assurance and testing to produce the most suitable and robust composite cable intended for topside or subsea applications.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Work with Team Leads and Production Manager to carry out all required tasks
    • Work in accordance with company and departmental policies and procedures
    • Work from Engineering (mechanical) drawings and procedures to assemble and/or test connectors and various interfacing assemblies
    • Terminate electrical and optical contacts, connectors and switches using various cables, fiber, tools and equipment, and epoxies.
    • Able to solder proficiently and in accordance with industry and company standards
    • Able to perform optical fusion splicing proficiently and in accordance with industry and company standards.
    • Able to perform over molding using industry standard materials and practices.
    • Work with various chemicals (e.g. oil, MEK, Flux, epoxy, etc.) and understand SDS requirements
    • Use test equipment for both electrical and optical performance testing.
    • Maintain equipment in accordance with company policies and recommended maintenance schedules
    • Inspect own work and document outcome of functional test.
    • Maintain detailed documentation of all work performed.
    • Confer with technical staff to conduct analyses, interpret test results, or develop non-standard tests
    • Maintain set schedules, properly stamp or tag all parts per engineering standards.
    • Knowledge of manufacturing methodologies, including; LEAN Manufacturing,

     REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

    • Must be eligible to work in USA
    • Must have valid driver’s License and good driving record
    • Must have transportation to this job in Katy, Tx - NO Per Diem – NO Mileage
    • Work Overtime, weekends and holidays, as required.
    • Work in constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending and other physical activities.
    • Must be able pass Drug Test and background, E Verify
    • Strong mechanical ability related to assembly operating pneumatic and hydraulic torque tools.
    • Ability to set up and run test operations on basic and moderately complex sub-assemblies and final assemblies following engineering drawing.
    • Must be able to read and work from engineering drawings
    • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry.
    • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    Education Experience

    • High school graduate or equivalent
    • Four, or more, years related experience and/or training in a similar environment and role.
    • Related military training and experience in related fields of cable and wire systems, to include Digital Group Multiplexers, Remote Multiplexing Combiners, repeaters, restorers, voltage protection devices, telephones, test stations, intermediate distribution frames, and related equipment.
    • Trade School or Associates degree and certifications

     

     PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with the use of proper lifting techniques and procedures.
    • Stand, walk, climb, perform overhead work with fall protection, use hands to feel, handle or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms, sit, talk and hear.
    • Work Minimum 8 hours daily
    • At least 20/40 arrested binocular vision, as well as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
    • Ability to kneel, balance, push, pull, drive, stoop, climb, and crouch.
    • Must be able to work as a team member under pressure.
    • Must be able to conform to customer-required physical and medical standards.
    • Psychological capacity to cope in a high-pressure work environment and interact effectively with team members.
    • Must be able to successfully pass Pre-Employment Screenings and Health Physical.
