The Union Organizer represents, organizes, develops and creates inspiring relationships with members. Along with being the face of the Union, the Organizer secures and implements collective bargaining agreements, inspires member leaders, moves them to collective and political action, and forwards the Union’s mission of improving the lives of working people and their families in order to achieve social and economic justice. Staff are expected to uphold and drive the mission of the Union throughout the course of their work
Duties and Responsibilities:
Identify and recruit member leaders
Develop, sustain, and leverage respectful, inspiring relationships with member leaders
Organize member leaders into positions of chapter leadership
Exercise leadership with members in strategic decision-making
Negotiate collective bargaining agreements
Mediate and arbitrate resolution of disputed member grievances
Organize member leaders to mobilize members in political and new organizing campaigns, including Political
Action Committee (PAC) contributions
Represent the union in meetings with chapter management, community organizations, and other settings in such a
way that resolves disputes and increase the good standing of the union
Meeting objectives of divisional and union program in terms of but not limited to dues, PAC voter registration,
member leadership recruitment, and member turnout
Maintain regular and accurate reporting of work to coordinator
All other duties as assigned
