    Summary

    To prospect and generate sales of electrical equipment and supplies by attracting and Pursuing  customers, qualifying leads, promoting supplier relationships, meeting the customer demand with appropriate supply, and providing customers with expert advice on products and applications in the electrical field. Enhance profitability by meeting or exceeding sales objectives.

    Essential Functions

    • Prospect, validate and pursue new business opportunities and generate sales of electrical equipment and supplies.

    • Develop and maintain business relationships with customers, and prospective customers, by providing support, information and product information

    • Resolve customer issues.

    • Provide technical product application support for customer

    • Negotiate services and contracts provided to customers.

    • Develop sales opportunities from existing accounts.

    • Sell electrical products by establishing contacts and developing relationships with all customer buying influences.

    • Work closely with suppliers to identify new and profitable business.

    • Progressively manage and maintain contacts with established customers and source new business through prospecting new customers.                      

    • Promote and sell IES products in compliance with all company pricing policies and instructions, to achieve maximum gross margin rate

    • Effectively communicate with inside sales personnel on quotes, new opportunities and existing business.

    • Handle customer complaints promptly, effectively and report potential problems to management.

    • Keep management informed of local competition and market conditions.

    • Carry out sales and merchandise programs as directed and recommend new items for stock.

    • Participate in training sessions, trade shows, and sales meetings as requested.

    • Physically call on accounts and solicit business.

    • Meet or exceed individual sales and margin goals.

    • Participate annually in physical inventory.

    Perform other duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibility, work environment and physical demands

    • This position has no supervisory responsibility.

    • This position works in a normal office environment as well as a warehouse environment, with standard office equipment. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. while working in the office.  The noise level in the warehouse environment is usually moderate and temperature can change based on the season.  This position also requires frequent travel to customer sites, which can be in a variety of environments including outdoor with inclement weather.

    • Work is sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 60% of the time.

    • Work can involve the operation of forklift, equipment such as pallet jacks and climb ladders; bend, stoop, lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
