    Position Summary: We are seeking qualified SERE Instructors to support Naval Special Warfare Advanced Training Command (NSWATC). This role is critical in delivering advanced Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) and Personnel Recovery (PR) training to Naval Special Warfare (NSW) trainees and select personnel. The mission is to ensure every student gains the knowledge, skills, and resilience to return with honor—regardless of circumstances involving separation, isolation, or capture in hostile environments.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Deliver Advanced SERE/PR Instruction: Provide comprehensive training in Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) and Personnel Recovery (PR) techniques tailored to the needs of Naval Special Warfare personnel and other select trainees.

    • Facilitate Realistic Training Scenarios: Conduct realistic and immersive field exercises simulating high-risk environments, including evasion from enemy forces and resistance during captivity.

    • Teach Core Survival Skills: Instruct students in survival essentials such as shelter construction, land navigation, water procurement and purification, food sourcing, signaling, and tactical movement.

    • Lead Resistance Training: Implement resistance training scenarios that prepare trainees to endure captivity, resist exploitation, and maintain the Code of Conduct under duress.

    • Maintain Training Standards: Ensure all instruction complies with DoD SERE/PR training policies, NSWATC guidance, and established operational tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).

    • Evaluate and Debrief Students: Assess student performance through observation and direct engagement, provide detailed feedback, and facilitate after-action reviews (AARs).

    • Support Curriculum Development: Assist in the design, development, and revision of training curriculum and materials to reflect current threats, operational realities, and emerging best practices.

    • Ensure Student Welfare and Safety: Monitor student physical and mental health during high-stress scenarios, implement risk mitigation measures, and respond swiftly to any safety concerns.

    • Operate and Maintain Training Equipment: Utilize and maintain a range of field equipment, audio-visual tools, and simulation devices used in survival and resistance instruction.

    • Coordinate with Training Staff and Command: Work collaboratively with NSWATC leadership, support personnel, and fellow instructors to ensure seamless delivery of all training phases.

    Required Skills and Abilities:

    • Must be a former or current U.S. military service member at the grade of E-4 or higher, with a minimum of four (4) years of honorable service.

    • Instructor Certification: Successfully completed an approved Department of Defense (DoD) Instructor Training Course (ITC) or an equivalent instructor qualification program.

    • SERE Certification: Graduate of an approved DoD SERE Level “C” course, and fully qualified as a SERE instructor, including successful completion of a recognized SERE training program, such as: Naval Enlisted Classification (NEC) for SERE Instructor, Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) for SERE Instructor/ Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) for SERE Instructor

    • Must have prior experience as a military instructor, with demonstrated ability to deliver both classroom and field-based training.

    • Must possess and be able to maintain an active SECRET security clearance.

    • Must have and maintain a valid U.S. state driver's license and be able to operate Government vehicles as required for training support.

    • Demonstrated proficiency and safety in weapons handling is required.

    • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex concepts clearly in high-stress training environments.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the IC is regularly required to talk, listen, and write. The IC frequently is required to use foot/ankle motions, hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit; and reach with hands and arms. The IC must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
