    Primary Position Objectives


    Teaches the basic principles and concepts of career technical education skills to students prior to enrollment into their career tech training.

    • Works towards meeting performance management goals.
    • Maintains compliance with safety practices.
    • Complies with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures.
    • Models, mentors, monitors appropriate Career Success Standards.
    • Continuously helps students become more employable.
    • Teaches the basic principles and concepts of the related fields in preparation for enrollment in the Clusters.
    • Maintains a high degree of discipline within classroom setting in order to ensure maximum learning.
    • Establishes a high degree of student/instructor rapport.
    • Collaborates with Academic and Career Tech Instructors in coordinating curriculum development.
    • Utilizes all possible curricular resources available at the Center.
    • Ensures adequate classroom preparation.
    • Ensures proper maintenance of student folders, recording personal data, including test scores, evaluations, attendance, incident reports, achievement awards, certification obtainment, and any other pertinent information concerning students.
    • Records daily attendance in CIS.
    • Assists in providing certifications for the completion of student’s resume.
    • Maintains building and equipment and ensures proper measures are taken for the care of equipment and supplies.
    • Performs driving responsibilities when needed.
    • Performs monitoring requirements when assigned.
    • Participates in PRH mandated staff training. Failure to participate may result in disciplinary actions up to and including termination.

    Qualifications


    To perform this job successfully, an individual must have experience working in the construction trades and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily as well as teach all employability skills including computer skills necessary to perform basic office operations. The requirements listed below represent knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

    Ability to work with construction math concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as measurements, fractions, percentages, ratios, graph reading and development, and proportions to practical situations.

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw related conclusion. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instruction and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    Proficiency with advanced Microsoft Office applications including Word, Power Point and Excel.

    Experience


    Minimum of one to two years of related hands-on construction experience

    Education


    Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university preferred, or equivalent combination of education and practical experience.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations


    Must be certified, licensed or accredited in state where center is located, or accredited by a professional trade organization. Valid State Driver’s License.
