Controller – Large Service Company
National restoration services provider, located in Norwalk, CT with a dynamic growth record and multiple franchise locations, is seeking an experienced, qualified controller to oversee the Accounting Department.
This position performs professional accounting and auditing services, enforcing internal accounting controls and compliance with internal and external reporting requirements. The Controller is required to exercise considerable judgment in administering and managing the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control, and making financial and HR recommendations directly to the business partners.
Responsibilities include:
Oversee the AR, AP and collections staff
Compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
(including payroll, sales tax, 1099s, property tax and annual business filings)
Daily accounting tasks
Monthly and annual account analysis and reconciliations
Prepare and manage annual budget and monitor expenditures
Maintain and enhance the Job Costing system
Coordinated preparation of income tax with outside tax accountant
Ensure proper accounting systems and procedures are in place for multiple franchises
Asses the current practices and procedures and implement improvements where warranted
Work closely with the business owner on various projects
Direct responsibility for:
Compliance with local, state, and federal government tax filings
Daily accounting tasks
Monthly and annual account analysis
Prepare and manage annual Budget
Job Costing
Coordinated preparation of income tax with tax accountant
Ensure proper accounting systems and procedures are in place for multiple franchises
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
BA in Accounting. CPA or MBA preferred
5-7 years’ experience in Business Income Tax Preparation required
5-7 years’ experience in business accounting required
Solid experience in accounts payable and receivables, general ledger, payroll, inventory, general accounting procedures
Proficiency with QuickBooks® ONLINE
PayChex services
Expertise in preparing sales tax, property tax, and 1099 forms
Excellent analytical and organizational skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
