Full-Time
Classification: Non-Exempt
Pay Rate: $20.00 - $33.00 (depending on experience)
Work Hours: 6:00 am - 5:00 pm
Monday - Friday
May require long hours and occasional Saturdays

Summary
The primary duties of a fleet mechanic include performing diagnostic tests on diesel trucks and fleet trailers to find faults, analyzing diagnostic test results and repairing or replacing parts including but not limited to, steering, transmission, braking or lighting system components, tires, DEF system, etc.
Fleet mechanics need to be highly organized and communicate effectively, as they will be expected to maintain detailed records of serviced equipment and interact with drivers/dispatchers on a daily basis.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Performs routine maintenance such as oil changes; around the wheel services such as tires, brakes, suspension, and driveline repairs.
Diagnose/Repair light lines and drivability work such as switches, relays, resistors, electrical control units, pumps, doors, windows, mirrors, and interior vehicle electronic functions.
Participate in the review of some operational and mechanical safety-related issues associated with the fleet, including. Perform routine brake inspections/ adjustments on commercial vehicles and trailers following Federal DOT requirements
Create work orders on repairs and services, providing legible and accurate information for work performed.
Coordinate with the location supervisor and review Pre-Trip truck inspections to prioritize work accordingly.
Input daily repair reports into a software-based tracking program
Communicate with Operations Managers to ensure adherence to preventative vehicle maintenance policies and practices.
Use and knowledge of a wide variety of hand and power tools.
Order parts from approved vendors and drive a Company pick-up/repair truck to pick up parts when needed.
Qualifications for a Fleet Mechanic
ASE Certificates are required and requested upon interview.
Must have own tools and storage chest.
Must possess 4 years of technical experience in all aspects of fleet/vehicle repair.
Strong mechanical background and troubleshooting skills.
Refrigerant experience a plus.
Current, valid Class-A CDL license and able to be DOT certifiable preferred.
Must be proficient in the use of a computer.
