    Job Designation

    Our San Diego based client has an opportunity to join their organization as a Cost Accountant. We are seeking an individual who possesses diverse experience in both analysis and accounting and who is able to flex where needed. We rely on MS Excel extensively in our processes and need someone with advanced Excel knowledge. Experience in creating complex formulas and in writing SQL queries to pull data from ERP databases is highly valued for this role.

    Job Core Responsibilities

    • Prepare, analyze and distribute monthly indirect spend reports to budget managers
    • Prepare monthly financial review presentation for management
    • Reconcile balance sheet accounts
    • Prepare journal entries for month end close
    • Analyze production variances and assist in updating standard costs
    • Prepare, analyze and present direct and indirect rate packages
    • Collaborate with program managers on ETC forecasts
    • Review, analyze and complete DCAA/DCMA audit requests and any other requests for information
    • Respond to government and internal audits as required
    • Support ad hoc financial analysis (sensitivity analysis/transactional research)
    • Support month end closing and planning and forecasting activities as required
    • Other duties, as assigned

    Job Specifications

    Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
    Years Experience: 3-5 years of hands-on experience in Accounting/Finance environment

    Skills

    • Expert MS Excel user with demonstrated knowledge of complex formulas, database and programming concepts.
    • Knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP
    • Familiar with cost accounting concepts (standard costs, production variances) Knowledge of FARS, DFARS helpful but not required
    • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
    • Experience with consolidating large amounts of data into meaningful formats used to brief management and auditors.
    • Previous experience working with multiple departments, specifically Contracts, Bids and Proposal, Purchasing, Business Development, Operations and Program Management
    • Ability to develop presentations and monthly metrics for management
    • Self-motivated individual who understands the importance of meeting deadlines
    • Able to multi-task and to accept and adapt to change quickly
    • Meticulous record keeping and data management
