  • Responsibilities

    The Computer Technology Department at Arapahoe Community College has an opening for a part-time Instructor to teach Security+ and Firewalls during the Spring 2019 semester. The Security+ course will meet during the day at the Littleton campus. The Firewalls course will meet during the evening at the Littleton campus.

     

    Part-time Instructors provide instructional duties for the college in their respective areas of expertise. They report to the department chair within the discipline and do not have any supervisory responsibilities. Responsibilities include instruction, student assessment, and other related instructional duties.

     

    The instructor must be patient, and respectful, while also providing their expectations for what is considered acceptable work. The instructor must display dedication to the class as well as the goals of the program.

     

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Associate’s degree, or higher, in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Networking or related subfield, OR
      • Associate’s degree plus 18 credit hours (undergraduate or graduate) in Computer Science-related field
    • Have, or qualify for, a postsecondary CTE credential including 4,000 non-teaching occupational hours within the last seven years (2,000 hours if at bachelor’s or higher)
    • Security+ certification

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • CCNA Security, CCNA CyberOps, or other relevant security certification.

    • Computer skill proficiency; particularly in M/S Office programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with online course management systems and classroom Smart Room technology.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Occasionally lifts, carries, pulls or pushes up to 20 lbs. May need to stoop, reach, handle, have manual dexterity and the ability to talk and hear. Mental function demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

    • Create designs, products and components that will positively impact the business using data to drive decisions.
    • Support the New Product Development stage gate process, concept inception through market release.
    • Initiate, prepare, conduct and document qualification and validation experiments protocols.
    • Initiate, design and test fixtures to exercise, test or evaluate components and systems.
    • Initiates and prepares project feasibility studies and budgets; establishes work standards; prepares timelines and progress reports to inform management of project status and deviation from goals.
    • Understanding Company goals and objectives and direct the efforts of others including junior engineers, technicians and assemblers based on these objectives.
    • Understand regulatory standards including but not limited to OSHA, DOE, IBC, IECC, NSF and UL and ensure that product design and manufacture meets these standards.
    • Deliver design documentation compliant with good documentation practices including creating and maintaining Design History Files and Master Records.
