POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for supporting Logistics Automation system sales for SICK, Inc. by providing technical support to the sales team, customers, integrators, and distributors.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide support throughout a system’s life cycle from the concept phase to the system design and fabrication, assembly, installation and support.
- Test customer applications to validate system functionality and performance as required by the customer.
- Travel to customer sites to evaluate customer applications, recommending SICK solutions to solve technical problems.
- Evaluate new technical solutions to verify functionality and provide feedback to the engineering team.
- Support field evaluations and competitive tests.
- Provide systems training to customers, integrators, distributors and the sales team.
- Provide continuous technical support for customers, integrators, distributors and the sales team both over the phone and over email.
- Handle difficult customer situations, upholding a positive customer image of SICK, Inc.
- Gain knowledge to better support the customer through complex factory systems automation.
- Work with internal resources and external installation resources to identify areas for continuous improvement.
- Provide technical support to Field Service when needed.
- Utilize standard methodologies in capturing customer requirements and translating into relevant system definitions
- Carry out other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE_ _
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred OR equivalent experience
- 1-2 years of experience in new system development, project management, or new system definition toward Industrial Automation.
- Experience in technical systems sales and/or systems marketing.
- Experience in machine vision is a plus.
_ __OTHER QUALIFICATIONS _
- Ability to self-start and learn on the fly.
- Programming capabilities in MatLab, C, C++, Helcon or Lua a plus.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet applications
- Ability and willingness to work alternative schedules including weekend, and on-call hours as needed
- Legally permitted to work in the United States
- Ability to work in a general office environment
