    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Our Cooks provide the highest level of customer service to our residents and fellow associates. Our cooks present the highest quality/presentation food to our residents, guests, and associates at the community.

     *This position does entail working in our Bistro - front and center with residents Must be a people person with excellent customer service skills.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Provide a high level of customer service and promote a restaurant style dining atmosphere.
    • Work closely with the Kitchen Manage to keep residents satisfied with food and dining programs.
    • Coach, train and develop kitchen staff as requested by the Kitchen Manager.
    • Create a strong sense of team work and cooperation among all staff.
    • Assist with the planning, preparation and execution of daily meal programs.
    • Ensure that all food is received, stored, and prepared according to company standards.
    • Maintain kitchen and food storage and preparation areas in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition at all times.
    • Responsible for the overall food quality and presentation of meals according to established recipes and approved menus.
    • Assist Kitchen Manager in menu planning and development based on resident likes and dislikes.
    • Adhere to and train staff on Quality Enhancement standards and standard food safety practices.
    • Assist with planning, preparation, and execution of special events, banquets, and theme meals.
    • Prepare and ensure snacks and beverages are available to residents at all times.
    • May perform other duties as needed and/or assigned.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    On the job the associate will work predominately in an environmentally controlled community living facility with the majority of time being spent in the kitchen areas near stoves, ovens, food prep stations, sinks, and refrigeration units. Due to the nature of the job, the associate may be exposed to working conditions typically found in a kitchen such as moderate changes in temperature to include brief exposure to freezing temperatures and to heating units. Occasionally, the associate may tour and/or work in parts of the community that will require walking moderate distances and climbing stairs. Some exposure to noise may exist such as: dish washing machines, kitchen tools, cooling fans, and telephones, copy/fax machines

    Required Experience

    • High school graduate preferred
    • High school graduate preferred. One to three years of cooking experience.
    • Must have Food Handlers’ certification as required
