Preschool Teacher

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION The Associate Teacher must be able to consistently, and successfully perform all essential functions of the position.

DUTIES Support in facilitating the following: o Monitoring of the continual evaluation of each child's progress. o Direction, resources, planning, implementing, and evaluating program curriculum. o Providing leadership and guidance to children, families, and staff o Orientation process of families. o Implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum activities for children. o Engagement, and extension of a child's play and learning experiences by offering assistance and providing resources. o Designing interest areas to provide choices, opportunities for safe risks, and challenge children to interact, learn, create, and thrive while corresponding with the developmental and individual needs of each child, thus fostering the desire to learn. o Classroom and Behavior Management

Establish and maintain the following: o A climate of respect for each child's individual personality, physical characteristics and traits, culture, language and ethnic characteristics, family structure, developmental needs and behaviors. o A positive relationship with each child's parent and/or caregivers. o Relate to all children in encouraging and positive ways. o Nurture and facilitate the learning experience by meeting each child at their point of need through a variety of teaching methods, which include but are not limited to individualized care and small group experiences. o Interact daily with each child and support his or her learning process. o Offer clear expressions of expectations with natural and logical consequences.

RESPONSIBILITIES o Conduct Parent Conferences and Home Visits (4 Parent Conferences- 2 Home Visits annually). o Prepare DRDP assessments for each child (3 annually) o Handle all paperwork and follow associated with Mental Health assessments and Referrals o Be familiar with the needs of each family and follow the Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) o Monitor and comply within EHS 30, 45, 90 day mandates o Maintain a Family Communication Log for each child

QUALIFICATIONS 12 to 17 Semester units in ECE or CD units Associate Teacher Permit or eligibility to obtain an Associate Teacher permit 6 months Experience as an Assistant Teacher in a group care environment. Current TB Clearance, physical screening, and First Aid and CPR Certification. Active Fingerprint Clearance with DSS/CCL
