    Staff Associate (On-site)

    SJLD (Scalco Johnson Leahy & Dudek, CPAs PLLC) is a small CPA firm located in Southwest Austin in need of a Staff Associate. We offer health benefits, PTO, bonus compensation and more. This is a full-time position.

    We are looking for a candidate that enjoys developing working solutions for the complicated needs of our clients. The position will include preparation of complex business and personal tax returns, providing consulting services regarding a wide variety of tax and accounting issues, and traditional compilation, review, or audit work on occasion. You should be a self-starter and be able to work independently as there will be multiple projects that will require great attention to details, ingenuity to develop work methods, and the ability to meet deadlines.

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting; an advanced degree is a plus. CPA or candidate. 2+ years of general tax experience, utilization of professional tax software (Ultra Tax).
    • Experience with and understanding of professional standards of attest work.
    • Proficiency with technology and software programs including QuickBooks, Adobe, Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, Power Point) and more. Willingness to learn new programs and technologies quickly.
    • Experience with QuickBooks and other small business accounting software.
    • Experience as controller or bookkeeper for small business is a huge plus.
    • Tax preparation and consulting experience working with C Corps, S Corps, Partnerships, LLC’s, Individuals, and Nonprofits.
    • Excellent research and project management skills.
    • Strong customer service skills and ability to interact with customers by phone and email, with the use of good grammar in both oral and written communications.
    • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients, as well as the ability to translate complex financial information into easily understood language for both sophisticated and novice audiences.
    • Strong attention to detail.
