    JOB PURPOSE

    Under the direction of the Commercial Sales Manager, and in cooperation with all divisions of the company, is responsible to make a profit according to the financial goals established, and provide a positive team environment with exceptional customer service and value for long term customer relationships.  

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Practice safe work habits at all times, and abide by Industry, Company, State & Federal Guidelines
    • Promote SM Tire Commercial and Retail Products and services in a manner to maximize relationships and company profits.
    • Complete Tire Knowledge to include Tread Designs, Tires Applications, Tire Wear Conditions, Tire Maintenance Practices, Wheel and Rim Configurations, Out of Service Tire Analysis, Knowledge of the Complete Retread Process, Tire Service Techniques.
    • Select and develop target customers to include regular cold calls
    • Never leave a SMT facility without verifying there is an electronic work order that includes all products that are being delivered, along with the services that are to be performed.  The electronic W/O number must be recorded on the Hand written W/O before living the facility.  Leaving a facility with any merchandise not written on an electronic WO is a serious violation and grounds for termination.
    • Communicate daily with management staff on all current and potential sales and service opportunities
    • Perform Fleet inspections at customer yards to gather information to present the customer and or the Service Dept.
    • Complete all documentation essential to the sales process
    • Drive safely and maintain vehicle inside and out to promote SM Tire in a positive manner
    • Know your competitors accounts, products and services
    • “Remember- A Sales is Not a Sale until It Has Been Paid For”.  All credit and collection policies have to be adhered to at all times.
    • Adhere to all other SM Tire policies and procedures outlined in the SM Tire handbook or other manuals or updates
    • Assist in other areas or tasks with-in the organization when requested, ie: Inventories, charity events, etc.
    • Always practice, preach and coach safe work habits and conditions
    • Communicate often and professionally with the Sales Department
      • Keep them informed of any delays with service commitments
      • Manage the on-line work lists to provide the best service possible to our customers

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • High School Diploma (or equivalent) or two years of related experience and or training.
    • Tire selling, installation, dispatching, supervision experience and/or training
    • Clear understanding of gross profits and net profits
    • Hiring, evaluation, coaching, termination, and reprimand experience
    • Continuous Improvement and a “We” – teamwork philosophy is mandatory
    • Manufacture training and/or other professional education
    • Ability to read, write, speak and interpret English documents.  The company encourages this position to speak Spanish in order to maximize results for our associates and customers.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
    • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables, make decisions based upon fact(s).
    • Must have an acceptable driving record, and a valid driver’s license in California.  Copy of H6 Driving Record Required.  Insurance Company approval required
    • Drug test and physical required

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Regularly exposed to moving vehicles, fumes or airborne particles that may be toxic, and the use of computer keyboards and computer screens, and compressed air (in tires or tanks), that can be explosive.  Occasionally exposed to wet and / or hot or cold conditions, and outdoor weather conditions.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
    • Full time Exempt position in which the business volume determines the actual hours worked. 
      • Monday – Friday and ½ day Saturday is common with a range of 40 - 60 hours per week
      • Inventories, training and business flow may require modifications to the normal schedule

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Regularly required to work sitting, standing up, walking, crouching, climb and/or balance, using hands, legs and fingers and speak and listen both over the phone and in person with fellow employees, or customers.
    • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, occasionally lift up to a rolling position of 100 pounds.  A lifting devise and/or a fellow associate must be used for objects over 100 pounds. 
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
