Job Description
This position supports the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)) Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) Engineering and Technical Support (RETS) program. This position provides subject matter expertise in Joint Force operations, operational planning, and force employment concepts to support technology development and capability assessment activities.
Responsibilities:
• Provide expertise in Joint Force design, development, and application
• Assess operational constraints and concepts of operation for new technologies and capabilities
• Support development of concepts of employment for emerging capabilities
• Contribute to development and execution of Combatant Command operational plans
• Analyze threat tactics and responses to inform capability development
• Evaluate logistics approaches and operational sustainability requirements
• Interface with Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, and Service components
• Support operational assessments of technology prototypes and demonstrations
• Provide operational context for systems engineering and technology development efforts
• Assess operational effectiveness and suitability of new capabilities
• Support war gaming and operational analysis activities
• Contribute to kill chain analysis from an operational perspective
• Provide input to capability gap assessments and requirements development
• Support operational test and evaluation planning and execution
Qualifications
• Requires a minimum TS/SCI clearance
• Bachelor's degree from War College or equivalent military education
• Minimum 15 years of operational experience
• Pentagon and OUSD(R&E) experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated expertise in Joint Force operations and planning
• Experience with Combatant Command operational planning processes
• Knowledge of threat tactics, techniques, and procedures
• Understanding of joint logistics and operational sustainment
• Experience working in Joint Staff environment highly desired
• Strong understanding of warfighting concepts across multiple domains
• Excellent analytical and briefing skills
• Ability to translate operational requirements into technical specifications
• Experience with operational test and evaluation processes
