An in-home caregiver is needed for a one-on-one 66-year-old male stroke patient. The patient is currently bed-ridden due to a weakness of his right side caused by the stroke. He is also unable to verbally communicate (very little words if any). The patient needs help with performing daily activities, eating and drinking, changing, bathing, hygiene, medication administration, transfer in and out of bed (a lift will be available) …etc. The plan for the patient is to regularly get physical, speech and occupational therapy to, hopefully, gradually get better.
Responsibilities
· The ideal candidate must be able to care for the patient and their property with dignity, patience, compassion, and respect.
· This person will encourage and remain empathetic to the patient at all times
Provide personal hygiene assistance for the patient by attending to their basic needs, such as showering, bathing, dressing, grooming and feeding
help the patient take prescribed medication and assist with ambulation
Help with mobility around the house or outside (doctor’s appointments, walks etc.)
Plan and prepare meals
Assist with physical therapy exercises
Complete patient’s shopping or accompany them shopping
Perform light housekeeping, laundry, cooking duties
Report any unusual incidents and act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
Companionship - Provide companionship and conversation by stimulating, encouraging and assisting the patient
Qualifications
Enjoy working in a one-on-one setting, eager to improve and continuously learn new skills
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation every single day
Available to work different shifts, including nights and/or weekends
Prior experience in a healthcare, hospitality, or in-home care environment (minimum of 1 year)
Supportive and compassionate
High School Diploma or equivalent/Experience as a Caregiver, CNA or HHA, or completion of a CNA Program
Take pride in providing high-quality care
Hoyer Lift Experience (specific to client)
