SMT Supervisor
Location: San Jose, CA
Schedule: Full-Time | 1st Shift
Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 (Flexibility for Exceptional Candidates)
A growing and well-established Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) company is seeking an experienced SMT Supervisor to lead daily Surface Mount Technology (SMT) operations within a fast-paced PCB assembly environment. This role is responsible for overseeing production personnel, maximizing throughput, maintaining quality standards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across SMT manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience, hands-on knowledge of SMT equipment, and a proven background in electronics contract manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily SMT production activities and support manufacturing objectives
- Lead, coach, and develop SMT operators and production personnel
- Monitor production schedules, throughput, and work order completion
- Ensure SMT lines operate efficiently while maintaining quality standards
- Support machine setup, changeovers, troubleshooting, and process improvements
- Partner with Engineering, Quality, Materials, and Production teams to resolve manufacturing issues
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and efficiency
- Monitor key production metrics and identify opportunities for improvement
- Maintain compliance with company procedures, quality requirements, and safety standards
- Support staffing, training, and performance management efforts within the department
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of SMT leadership, supervisory, or management experience
- Hands-on experience with Yamaha SMT equipment
- Hands-on experience with Juki SMT equipment
- Experience in an Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) or Contract Manufacturing (CM) environment
- Strong knowledge of PCB assembly and SMT manufacturing processes
- Experience leading production teams in a manufacturing setting
- Ability to troubleshoot production and process-related issues
- Experience managing production schedules and manufacturing priorities
Preferred
- Aerospace electronics manufacturing experience
- Medical device electronics manufacturing experience
- IPC-A-610 training or certification
- J-STD-001 training or certification
- Experience with SMT programming and machine optimization
- Experience working in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience
