Medical Assistant Needed for Busy Orthopedic Office
PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION Medical Assistant needed for busy orthopedic practice. Full-time position only, Monday thru Friday. Position requires exceptional customer service skills and multitasking ability. JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES: - Update and maintain all patient records - Record patient information such as vital signs, weight and changes in medical history prior to each appointment - Room patients and obtain interim history - Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments - Occasional front office tasks such as answering phone calls and greeting patients as they enter the facility - Assist the PA and office manager in maintaining the medical inventory and placing orders for new materials as needed - Prepare injections and blood draws for MD/PAs - Assists with scheduling of tests and treatments. - Screens telephone calls for referral to PA or physician. - Maintains drug closets, disposes of expired medications. - Assists with maintenance of patient files, records and other information. - Faxes reports to referring clinics and logs incoming and outgoing reports. - Participates in in-service meetings, professional development and committees as requested. - Maintains patient confidentiality. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Clear interest in pursuing a career in the clinical medical field - High school diploma or GED - Energetic, positive attitude, team player - Works well in groups and in loud, stressful, and fast-paced environments - High level of computer literacy PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES - Fluent in a second language (not required) - Preferred phlebotomy certification - Completed at least 2-year or 4-year college/university - Have completed courses in Anatomy, Physiology, and Medical Terminology - Previous experience in/exposure to the medical field - One letter of recommendation from most recent employer Job Type: Full-time
