    Job Description

    PURPOSE: As a member of the Community Engagement Team, the Development Associate supports the implementation of the Agency's fundraising and volunteer engagement strategic goals.

    DESCRIPTION: Part-time employment for an individual who is responsible for the integrity of the databases and provides support for all fundraising and volunteer efforts.

    DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide administrative support for the Community Engagement team, as assigned.
    • Maintains the Donor Perfect donor database in a timely and accurate manner, including completing gift entry updates, donor demographic information, tracking stewardship of donors.
    • Coordinate and produce gift acknowledgments within 48 hours of receipt.
    • Reconciles donations with accounting personnel, including cash and non-cash gifts, pledges, and pledge statements and payments.
    • Provides support to staff for special events and meetings, including managing events-related software, reporting on ticket sales, sponsors, and auction item donations/sales.
    • Gather data and produce reports for monthly budget reporting and quarterly Key Performance Indicator reporting
    • Provides accurate and current donor contact information for agency email newsletters using Constant Contact.
    • Coordinate mailings including setting parameters for list generation, segmentation, managing the budget, fulfillment of timelines, and working understanding of postal service requirements.
    • Implements current Standard Operating Procedures for the functions of this position and provides backup training to designated staff.
    • Manages workplace campaign gifts and verifies matching gifts.
    • Follows established donor-center policies and procedures.
    • Assure compliance with all agency policies and procedures related to safety, discrimination, and sexual harassment.
    • Adhere to all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) privacy standards.
    • Effectively works with volunteers / interns in the business unit to achieve the mission of the organization while providing meaningful opportunities for the volunteer(s) / intern(s) to contribute in a manner they find rewarding. Treating volunteers & interns as valuable members of the SOAR365 team.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: The Associate, Development is supervised by the Annual Fund Director. He/she must take direction from other members of the Community Engagement to support and achieve the departmental priorities.

    KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:

    • Exceptional customer service and professionalism to interact with all Agency's stakeholders.
    • Strong ethical standards
    • Strong computer/computer software knowledge and skills; experience with databases or fundraising software, Donor Perfect preferred
    • Keen attention to detail
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and mail merge
    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize simultaneous tasks.
    • Working knowledge and understanding of Constant Contact experience preferable
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills; good penmanship is a plus.
    • Able and willing to work both independently and as a team member.
    • Able and willing to drive an agency vehicle. Valid VA Driver's License with an acceptable driving record that meets standards required by Agency's vehicle insurance carrier.
    • Able to handle confidential and sensitive information.
    • Able to work remotely and in the office.
    • Able and willing to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed, particularly before, during, and after special events or projects.
    • Able and willing to lift up to 50 lbs., although this is not routinely required.

    EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

    • Associates degree or equivalent, with two-years administrative experience
    • Some specialized training and/or experience in fundraising, database management. Donor Perfect preferred.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Must have the use of sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public using the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to, personal computer, calculator, copier and fax machine. No significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing and pulling. Must be able to travel to the field (outside of the office) in order to conduct quality assurance visits, staff monitoring, and consultation.
