TITLE: FIELD PERFORMANCE AND TEST ENGINEER

LOCATION: BAY AREA, CA

DURATION: DIRECT HIRE

·         Client is seeking a dynamic Field Performance and Test Engineer who will help develop photovoltaic technologies that harvest energy from rooftops and deliver customer satisfaction.

·         This exciting role will report to the Senior R&D Engineer and work with the Solar R&D team to test and evaluate technology platforms and solar products that deliver high energy production at a competitive cost. The ideal candidate must have a passion for innovative solar technologies that will change the world’s energy infrastructure and thrive working in a fast-paced environment

·         This person will be part of a cross-functional team that is responsible for development, design, testing and analysis of solar roof modules and systems. With outstanding technical acumen, excellent problem solving capabilities and strong collaborative skills you can help us design the solar roof of the future and protect what matters most

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

• Developing and testing improvements for rooftop solar systems with the goal of creating a product that enables higher energy yield and power generation
• Generating detailed test plans and schedules for in-lab and in-field tests of solar roof modules and systems
• Designing, procuring and/or building test apparatus and data logging systems for in-lab and in-field solar tests
• Driving successful execution of tests, including collaboration with and coordination of third party resources
• Managing equipment calibrations and maintenance on test sites in order to ensure data accuracy and integrity
• Implementing continuous improvements and recommending new equipment to keep capabilities at peak performance
• Communicating technical problems and status effectively across the business

WHAT DO WE REQUIRE FROM YOU?

• Bachelor’s Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Master’s Degree with a solar power focus, preferred
• 2 years of work experience in an R&D environment
• 2 years of work experience in a solar power environment, preferred
• Demonstrated track record of innovation, problem solving capabilities and timely delivery of technical solutions
• Intermediate understanding of solar module and solar system performance metrics
• Intermediate understanding of solar PV and weather metrology instruments and standards
• Experience with remote field monitoring and data logging systems
• Hands-on experience with field performance testing of solar systems, strongly preferred
• Experience working on cross-functional teams to drive innovation and product development
• Proven record of handling multiple priorities, organizing workloads and meeting deadlines
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external functional teams verbally, in writing, and via presentations
• Willing and able to travel within USA and internationally, up to 20% of the time
