    SOME, INC. EXISTS TO HELP THE HOMELESS AND POOR OF WASHINGTON, DC.     SOME, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time RECOVERY SUPPORT SPECIALIST for our Single Adult Housing department. 

    The Recovery Support Specialist position is ideal for someone who has extensive experience in providing addictions and recovery support services.  

    CERTIFIED ADDICTIONS COUNSELOR (CAC) CERTIFICATION IS A PLUS!!

    POSITION DESCRIPTION: Provide over sight of all SAH Recovery Support Services to include: the Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) Recovery Support Services (RSS) including the Environmental Services (ES) program and the SRO Rapid Re-engagement Program (RRP). Provide intensive case management and recovery services for SRO residents enrolled in RSS and RRP. 

    TRAVEL REQUIRED: up to 75% between residential properties, all located in Washington, DC.

    SCHEDULE:  Monday - Friday 11:00am - 7:30pm - 40 hours/week

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    REQUIRED: Bachelor's Degree in Social Services; 3-5 yrs. experience in case management with experience providing services in addiction treatment; experience with automated billing/intake assessments and using Credible and/or Data Wits systems.

    PREFERRED: Master's Degree in Social Services; 5-7 yrs. experience in case management with experience providing services in addiction treatment; experience providing services to HIV population, Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC)

    REQUIRED LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Vehicle and valid Drivers license; CPR and First Aid certification. 

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

    •  Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for motivational enhancement theory and interviewing.
    •  Knowledge of human behavior and performance.
    •  Ability to be sensitive to diverse backgrounds and set aside personal opinions and implicit biases.
    •  Knowledge and understanding of issues of trauma and mental health.
    •  Ability to use sound judgement to respond in crisis situations.
    •  Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of  alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
    •  Knowledge of social services resources within DC.
    •  Knowledge of case management approaches.
    •  Ability to travel to and from various programs.
    •  Ability to complete and maintain documentation based on program requirements, following established guidelines and time frames.

    EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS:

    •  CASE MANAGEMENT: The Recovery Support Specialist is to complete individual assessments to identify recovery support needs for residents enrolled in Recovery Support Services and Environmental Services. Also is expected to effectively communicate verbally and in writing residents progress and participation to SRO housing teams. Finally, work in conjunction with the Service Coordinators and residents to incorporate the recovery plans into the life plans.
    • COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT: RSS is expected to create and facilitate access to DC Department of Behavioral Health and Access to Recovery staff, as well as, other agencies and recovery supports. 
    •  PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION: Assist residents in Environmental Stability program to secure resources for permanent housing. Complete progress notes for services provided residents in the Rapid Re-engagement Program. Work collaboratively across teams within SOME and network with outside agencies to include DMH, Medicaid and APRA
