    Job Description

    POSITION SUMMARY:  This is an entry-level plus position with room for growth. Under the direction of the Division Manager is responsible for handling a variety of administrative sales activities for the Wholesale Products Division. This includes coordinating orders with customers/outside sales personnel, inputting sales orders, purchase orders, and updating price list information.

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Receive, interpret and edit telephone, fax, or computer product orders from customers and sales representatives covering a wide range of standard and specialty products.

    2. Based on technical knowledge of the application, clarify terminology; supply missing or misstated information, and correct discrepancies involving product selection.

    3. Optimize individual customer sales by proposing increased volume, and determining need so as to recommend the purchase of ancillary products.

    4. Check and verify the conditions of sales, shipping and handling instructions.

    5. Review and extend pricing, discounting and estimates for standard or specialty items.

    6. Access and input sales orders into computer database, coordinating immediate delivery logistics as necessary.

    7. Input purchase orders into the computer and update price lists in a timely manner.

    8. Process FEDEX, and UPS shipments, and LTL (less than truck load) shipments through the appropriate commercial carrier.

    9. Perform other duties as assigned or expected.

     

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

    Requires good computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Word, and Excel. Must possess the ability to communicate and relate effectively with typical construction industry customers. Good documentation skills and attention to detail along with the ability to take direction is essential. Experience with MS Dynamics (fmrly Great Plains) a definite plus. This individual must develop sufficient product knowledge to have the ability to “think on their feet,” and service customer requirements in the absence of the Division Manager.

     

    EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

    High School Diploma or GED required. Associate’s Degree or equivalent is a plus. Four (4) or more years of related work experience or customer contact work experience preferred. College degree in lieu of experience will be acceptable.

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    This position is set in a typical office work environment.
