    Sozo Children seeks a Financial Assistant (part-time) with experience in the non-for-profit sector to join the administrative team in Birmingham, AL. The Financial Assistant primary responsibilities include accounts payable, bank deposits, reconciliations, and other finance-related duties. Responsibilities also include assisting

    It is the duty of the Financial Assistant to hold to the mission, vision, and core values of Sozo Children.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Maintaining records according to generally accepted accounting principles including the recordation of general journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and reconciliation of bank statements
    • Applying strong bookkeeping skills, including A/P, A/R, journal entries, and all bookkeeping and financial statement preparation (US, Uganda and Sozo Trading Co)
    • Assist CFO with monthly and yearly budget preparation
    • CRM management and proficiency
    • Develop and maintain donor list through weekly reports to CEO, COO and CFO
    • Maintain supplies by checking stock to determine inventory levels, anticipating requirements and placing and expediting orders
    • Assists with onboarding employees and executes payroll as needed
    • Performing other duties as assigned

    EDUCATION:

    • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Accounting related studies or equivalent experience

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Two or more years of office or bookkeeping experience

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Skills and use of common bookkeeping software is required; previous experience in QuickBooks or related programs
    • Accuracy and attention to detail is absolutely required, as well as a track record of reliability, confidentiality, and conscientious work habits
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint
    • Ability to work independently with little supervision
    • Ability to organize, plan and prioritize effectively
    • Attention to detail with exceptional level of accuracy
    • Ability to adapt and work efficiently in a rapidly changing dynamic environment with deadline pressures
