    Sozo Children seeks a Marketing and Events Coordinator to join the administrative team in Birmingham, AL. The Marketing and Events Coordinator is responsible for implementing marketing initiatives and managing all communications as part of the overall relationship building and support raising strategy. As a member of the engagement team, this individual will work to create cohesion and cooperation between all departments to effectively uphold and further the Sozo Children brand and image to strategically increase awareness, connect people to God’s work at Sozo Children, and communicate the impact of their support in the lives of those served.

    It is the duty of the Marketing and Events Coordinator to hold to the mission, vision, and core values of Sozo Children.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    MARKETING AND BRANDING STRATEGY:

    • Collaborate with Engagement team and Sozo Children leadership to define and ensure consistency and integrity of Sozo Children and Sozo Trading Co brand
    • Identify target audience for all communication efforts and effectively develop and implement a marketing strategy to build relationships with each constituent group through all mediums (print, broadcast, digital media, etc.)
    • Assist in creating marketing calendar in line with relationship building strategy and ensure deadlines are met consistently
    • Identify and implement ways to measure effectiveness of marketing strategy and individual campaigns
    • Implement marketing budget and serve alongside Sozo leadership to meet budgetary goals
    • Generate reports from CRM to facilitate communication efforts and help to ensure records in CRM are accurate
    • Oversee media buying in coordination with Engagement Director
    • Assist in all mailings and emails to general and major donors, including design and production of annual report, as part of overall relationship building strategy

    EVENT PLANNING AND DIRECTION:

    • Oversee all Sozo Children events and serve as lead team member to coordinate with event chairs and committees
    • Develop checklist and timeline for all events and ensure all roles and responsibilities are assigned and followed through

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

     EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or equivalent certification or experience

    EXPERIENCE:

    • 2-5 years minimum experience working in marketing/event planning. Nonprofit fundraising experience is preferred

    REQUIREMENTS:

    This role requires an organized, self-initiator who is goal driven and can communicate effectively through multiple channels with key constituents to help build relationships and encourage support.

    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail in all forms of communication–proofreading & editing
    • Excellent creative writing skills
    • Ability to utilize Adobe Suite products
    • Ability to use Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Ability to develop communication through MailChimp, Constant Contact or similar platforms
    • Ability to analyze reports through CRM system to help strategize and formulate plans to meet objectives
    • Ability to oversee creation and distribution of effective marketing materials with attention to detail
    • Able to travel by air or automobile and relate effectively in different cultures
    • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
    • Proven ability to resolve issues in a calm and efficient manner
    • Extremely collegial and leads by example
