Our client is a stealth startup looking for a passionate design engineer (frontend engineer with design chops) with 3+ years of experience based in NYC to join their founding team. Seeking a frontend engineer who is also a designer. You will have a design portfolio and previous work with amazing brands or done web design/freelance brand design/implementation and knows how to use Figma.
Responsibilities
- Build the frontend of a web (and maybe mobile if able) app that helps people stay on top of (and even get joy out of) their email, utilizing the latest LLMs and adjacent technologies
- Ensure product is performant and the design is pixel perfect
- Work directly with the CEO/founder (designer/product) and other engineers to influence and execute the vision for the product
- Ideate, prototype and test new feature ideas quickly
- Contribute to design and/or creative direction if able
- Define and implement design and prototyping processes and design standards that push the team to create the highest quality product as fast as possible
Ideal candidate traits
- Strong knowledge of and experience with React and other frontend frameworks
- Strong portfolio of work demonstrating ability to execute engaging, cutting edge frontend experiences
- Experience with Swift and React
- Experience as a visual designer or creative director
- Experience building generative AI apps
- Frontend leaning full stack engineer or frontend engineer who has a sense for design and is really good at Figma
- Design portfolio with experience in brand design, web design, or has worked with well-known brands
- Based in New York (preferred) or San Francisco
- Experience building email and/or other viral consumer apps
- Experience as an early eng team member growing a product from 0 to 1
- Have worked as both an engineer and designer
- Have been a founder before
