    Security Technician

    Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
    Compensation: Starting at $27.00+/hour DOE

    Position Summary

    The Security Technician is responsible for the installation, service, troubleshooting, testing, and maintenance of electronic security systems, including access control, video surveillance (CCTV), and intrusion alarm systems. This position works on commercial and other customer sites to ensure systems are installed correctly, function reliably, and meet applicable plans, specifications, manufacturer requirements, and company standards.

    The Security Technician should be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, reading technical documentation and drawings, troubleshooting system issues, and communicating professionally with customers, project managers, and other members of the field team.

    This position also provides an opportunity for experienced technicians to train and mentor junior technicians and take on greater responsibility in the field.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Install, service, troubleshoot, test, and maintain a variety of access control, CCTV/video surveillance, and intrusion alarm systems.
    • Install, terminate, label, test, and troubleshoot low-voltage cabling and associated devices.
    • Perform preventative maintenance and system inspections to identify potential equipment or system issues.
    • Install and configure security system devices and components in accordance with project requirements, manufacturer specifications, and applicable standards.
    • Work independently or as part of a team to complete small- to medium-sized access control, CCTV, and intrusion system installations.
    • Read and accurately interpret work tickets, Sedona tickets, project documentation, floor plans, blueprints, and CAD drawings.
    • Identify, diagnose, and resolve equipment, wiring, connectivity, and system-related issues.
    • Use industry-standard test equipment, including volt/ohm meters, butt sets, tone generators, and other diagnostic tools.
    • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, materials used, system conditions, deficiencies, and required follow-up.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at customer and construction sites.
    • Communicate professionally with customers and internal teams regarding system status, work performed, and identified issues.
    • Provide training, guidance, and field support to junior installation technicians as needed.
    • Follow all company safety requirements, jobsite requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a security, low-voltage, fire alarm, telecommunications, or related technician.
    • Working knowledge of electronic security systems, including access control, CCTV/video surveillance, and/or intrusion systems.
    • Ability to read and understand blueprints, CAD drawings, floor plans, wiring diagrams, and work tickets.
    • Familiarity with low-voltage cabling, termination, testing, and troubleshooting.
    • Working knowledge of electrical and electronic test equipment, including a volt/ohm meter and tone generator.
    • Understanding of construction environments, jobsite practices, and workplace safety requirements.
    • Ability to work independently, prioritize assignments, and complete work with appropriate supervision.
    • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
    • Professional communication and customer service skills.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and support the development of less-experienced technicians.
    • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
    • Must successfully pass a background check and meet access requirements for County, State, Federal, and other restricted worksites.
    • Must be dependable, motivated, safety-conscious, and willing to learn and develop new technical skills.

    Physical & Work Requirements

    • Ability to work primarily onsite at customer and construction locations.
    • Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, meters, test equipment, ladders, lifts, and other industry-related equipment.
    • Ability to climb ladders and safely operate or work from lifts.
    • Ability to work in construction environments and areas that may involve dust, noise, heat, outdoor conditions, or other jobsite hazards.
    • Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and work in elevated or confined areas as required by the job.
    • Ability to work the schedule required to meet project and customer needs, including occasional overtime or adjusted hours when necessary.
