    SIBELCO NORTH AMERICA is looking for a dynamic RESEARCH SCIENTIST who will have a positive impact on the operations team at its BAKERSVILLE, NC location.  As a Research Scientist you will provide research and engineering capabilities to develop new high purity materials and design processes for pilot scale sample production.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Conduct hands-on experimental research at bench to develop new products and new or improved processes.
    • Produce technical reports that analyze quantitative experimental results and develop intellectual property from the findings.
    • Design, develop and implement pilot-scale processes to facilitate production of customer samples. Lead and conduct pilot trials to optimize process and products.
    • Lead technical transfer activities to facilitate plant scale implementation of new processes or new products.
    • Contribute technical expertise to local and global collaboration efforts to initiate new product development and ideas for new markets participation.
    • Assist Sales to solve customer problems.

    Required Skills

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or PhD in Chemistry or material sciences preferred.
    • 3-5 years of research experience, 3-5 years of industry experience, experience in scaling processes from bench to pilot.
    • Experimental skills in high temperature processing, technical knowledge in process equipment and reactor design and familiarity with purification technology preferred.
    • Seeking collaborative team player with good written and oral communication skills, listening skills and a desire to learn.
