  • Responsibilities

    Position Summary:
    The SSHO will oversee all on-site safety and health aspects of the construction project, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as project-specific safety requirements. The role involves proactive hazard identification, implementation of safety protocols, and fostering a culture of safety among all project personnel.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop, implement, and maintain the project's Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs).
    • Conduct daily safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
    • Lead daily safety briefings and toolbox talks with construction crews.
    • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
    • Maintain all safety documentation, including logs, reports, and inspection records.
    • Coordinate with project management, subcontractors, and government representatives on safety matters.
    • Ensure all personnel have the necessary safety training and certifications.
    • Stay updated on OSHA regulations and industry best practices to ensure ongoing compliance.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety management, preferably on federal or military projects.
    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) certification preferred.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA standards and EM 385-1-1 safety requirements.
    • Strong communication and leadership skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
    • Proficient in using safety management software and tools.

    Additional Requirements:

    • Must be able to pass a background check and obtain necessary security clearances.
    • Physical ability to conduct field inspections in various weather conditions.
