Position Summary:
The SSHO will oversee all on-site safety and health aspects of the construction project, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as project-specific safety requirements. The role involves proactive hazard identification, implementation of safety protocols, and fostering a culture of safety among all project personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the project's Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs).
- Conduct daily safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Lead daily safety briefings and toolbox talks with construction crews.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain all safety documentation, including logs, reports, and inspection records.
- Coordinate with project management, subcontractors, and government representatives on safety matters.
- Ensure all personnel have the necessary safety training and certifications.
- Stay updated on OSHA regulations and industry best practices to ensure ongoing compliance.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety management, preferably on federal or military projects.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) certification preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA standards and EM 385-1-1 safety requirements.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Proficient in using safety management software and tools.

- Physical ability to conduct field inspections in various weather conditions.
