    Position Overview

    We are seeking a STEM Specialist to join our team. This part-time role is responsible for designing and leading hands-on activities that integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) to inspire creativity, problem-solving, and real-world application. The STEM Specialist will play a key role in sparking curiosity and building confidence in our members.

    Responsibilities

    Plan and lead engaging STEM activities using the engineering design process

    Encourage youth to build, test, revise, and retest projects

    Coordinate the annual BGC Science Fair

    Provide active supervision and ensure the safety of all participants

    Maintain confidentiality and uphold BGC’s standards of professionalism

    Prepare program areas before use and ensure proper clean-up afterward

    Record accurate attendance and conduct daily safety/health checks

    Participate in weekly site meetings and one-on-one check-ins with supervisor

    Report safety concerns or issues impacting youth well-being promptly

    Qualifications

    Minimum age of 21

    Strong communication and organizational skills

    Knowledge of STEM concepts, creative problem-solving, science, and engineering

    Experience working with youth, ideally in an educational setting

    Passion for helping kids understand and solve real-world problems

    Commitment to professionalism, respect, and inclusivity across diverse backgrounds

    Dedication to being a positive role model, promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, growth mindset, and kindness

    Work Environment

    Part-time, in-person position reporting to the Site Supervisor

    Pay Rate: $19.50/hour

    Schedule: Monday–Friday afternoons, with occasional evenings and weekends
