    JOB SUMMARY

    This position is responsible for advising to train operators, for enabling applicants to machinist, of imparting security talks, for carrying out inspections to the trains line up, for personally participating in rescue labors, and for collaborating in the execution of aleatory verifications with the help of the Pulses and Quantum systems and in the moniting of speeds with radar guns, to avoid lesions, incidents, delays and sanctions.

    Applies and enforces guidelines to ensure compliance and equitable application of policies, procedures, practices, programs, processes, and systems and makes suggestions for continued improvement or increased efficiencies. Delivers operational results that align with department commitments. Plans and prioritizes work to meet business unit commitments aligned with company goals and financial responsibilities. Supervises the daily activities of field Operations teams. Participates in the interview and selection process, provides training and mentorship, offers career development guidance, and is engaged in performance management. Provides timely and constructive coaching and feedback; develops staff and provides challenging opportunities. Reports to a people leader at a higher career level.

    JOB DUTIES

    • Advises to the train operators for the application of the regulations, clarifying what is difficult to apply, to avoid lesions, incidents and sanctions.
    • Enables applicants to machinist, giving instruction in classroom and on board of the train, for the guarantee of an excellence learning.
    • Imparts security talks, at the moment of carrying out the Tests of Uniform Efficiency, to avoid risks.
    • Carries out inspections to the trains line up, checking for the execution of the regulations, for avoiding accidents and sanctions.
    • Participates in the rescue labors, gathering information from the Pulses and Quantum systems and taking charge of the maneuvers, for the free track determination and for avoiding delays.
    • Exemplifies KCS Vision, Values, and Culture in each and every interaction with team, clients, and stakeholders.

     

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in a job related major field of study
    • Minimum five (5) years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

     

    PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

    • Minimum experience of two years as a locomotive engineer.
    • Physics and mathematics, without the use of speedometer determination of speed and training impartment. (1 year)
    • Medium command of english.
    • Office, Pulse y Quantum systems knowledge

     

    CERTIFICATIONS

    • License federal railway valid as a locomotive engineer, which must be revalidated as transport officer.
    • Driver license valid.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Collaborates in the random verification carrying out, extracting information from the Pulse and Quantum Systems, for analyzing the trains’ path
    • Colaborates in the train speed monitoring, personally moving from one assigned place to another between points, for the speeds registering with the help of radar guns.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Required Skills

    JOB DUTIES:

    • Randomly extract and analyze information downloaded to the recorder of events of the locomotives, to verify the train handling, advice if you find unusual events and correct bad habits.

    • Provide training of recycling to the crew train assigned to the renewal of the railway federal license.

    • Field coordination and communication between all operating areas during Service Interruption.

    • Downloads and analysis of event recorders via remote or manually in cases of accidents/incidents, merchandise robberies, uncoupling, broken knuckles, grade crossing collisions, personal injury (if locomotives or equipment coupled to locomotives are involved) and alerts received from the system. Along with contacting the locomotive engineer relevant to the incident.

    • A detailed written analysis along with corrective actions must be provided to Labor Relations and the Superintendent in case of requirements of disciplines.

    • To assist to Labor Relations in cases of investigations of the unionized personnel.

      • When a personal injury happen obtain information, talking with the worker and explain the rules that not comply.
    • Aleatoriamente extraer y analizar la información descargada a la grabadora de eventos de las locomotoras, para verificar el manejo de trenes, asesorar en caso de encontrar eventos inusuales y corregir malos hábitos.

    • Proporcionar capacitación de reciclaje al personal trenista asignado para la revalidación de la licencia federal ferroviaria correspondiente.

    • Comunicación y coordinación en campo con las demás áreas operativas durante interrupciones del servicio.

    • Descargar y analizar datos de las grabadoras de evento vía remota o manualmente en caso de accidentes/incidentes, vandalismo al tren, desacoplamientos, muelas rotas, arrollamientos en cruces a nivel, lesiones (si locomotoras o equipos acoplados a locomotoras están involucradas), así como por las alertas recibidas desde el sistema Wi-Tronix. Además de contactar al maquinista involucrado.

    • Elaborar por escrito un análisis a detalle junto con las acciones correctivas pertinentes, proporcionado a Relaciones Laborales y el Superintendente correspondiente en caso de requerirse un proceso disciplinario.

    • Atender requerimientos de Relaciones Laborales, participando las comisiones mixtas convocadas en los casos de investigaciones de personal sindicalizado a efecto de determinar responsabilidades.

    • En caso de lesiones personales, hablar con el trabajador y explicar las normas incumplidas.

     

     

    Required Experience

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    Training and certification as a locomotive engineer.

    Capacitación y certificación como Maquinista.

     

    CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    License federal railway valid as a locomotive engineer, which must be revalidated as transport officer.

    Driver license valid.

    Licencia Federal Ferroviaria vigente como maquinista, la cual debe ser revalidada como oficial de transporte.

    Licencia de manejo vigente de chofer.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Travel on board of trains and services yard, programming covering 24 of the day, 7 days a week.

    Random event recorder downloads (wireless & five cable up) to evaluate data for proper train handling. If any defects are noted in the event recorder data, notify mechanical help desk.

     

    Efectuar viajes a bordo de trenes y servicios de patio, programando cubrir las 24 del día, los 7 días de la semana.

     

    De forma aleatoria descargar información de grabadoras de eventos de locomotoras (vía remota y con cable) para evaluar el apropiado manejo de trenes. En caso de detectar fallas en el registro de las grabadoras de eventos, notificarlo el escritorio de apoyo mecánico.
