    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Responsible for the day-to-day operations and continuous improvement of the production facility (Folding Carton Converting). Work in team setting to ensure seamless integration and interaction between production departments and front office personnel.  Take care of the Team and exceed client expectations while achieving maximum productivity and efficiency. This position is a point of contact for employees to confirm questions for the entire production cycle and to resolve conflicts while mentoring all employees throughout the company ­to instill sound judgment and positive attitude which is essential to the success and growth of the company.

    DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Keep the Team safe. Ensure all employees are utilizing appropriate PPE and working safely.
    • Ensure customer’s expectations are being met with particular attention to on-time deliveries, quality and service.
    • Work with scheduling department to set realistic schedules.
    • Determine manning of full time employees and temp workers as necessary.
    • Ensure the companies policies and procedures are being followed.
    • Train employees on company policies.
    • Authorize overtime as necessary.
    • Attend daily production meetings.
    • Maintain the equipment. Stay disciplined in executing preventive maintenance. 
    • Anticipate problems before they occur.
    • Set performance level goals and update on an ongoing basis to create a culture of continual improvement with engaged and accountable employees.

      LONG TERM RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Lead continuous improvement in Safety and ensure the Task Tracker is completed 100% annually. 5S the entire Site and sustain the 5S improvements.
    • Maintain an open line of communication with the Plant Manager.
    • Make recommendations for equipment purchase and workflow adjustments.
    • Attend regular management meetings.
    • Hire, discipline, and evaluate all employees.
    • Track/measure employee productivity and performance in all areas of production using objective data on an ongoing basis.
    • Develop/review/enforce budgets and relative issues.
    • Provide leadership to the production floor that promotes a positive work environment and delivers reliable, consistent and profitable results.
    • Maintain appropriate staffing levels in all areas of production and adjust as necessary for drops and spikes in sales to ensure profitability.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills

    KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Manufacturing, Engineering or related field is preferred but not required. Equivalent work experience in a similar position is acceptable in lieu of degree.
    • A minimum of 3 years experience as a manufacturing supervisor for a Packaging facility.
    • A minimum of 7 years of technical process and materials knowledge (Offset Printing, Die Cutting and Folding Gluing) is preferred.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization are required.
    • A primary focus on safety, quality, maintenance, throughput and profitability.
    • Strong mechanical skills as it relates to the pressroom and folding carton finishing.
    • A very good understanding of internal and external customer expectations.
    • A self-directed work ethic with the ability to develop and track measurements leading to process improvement.
    • A proactive business approach with a strong sense of urgency. Must be able to work well under pressure.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in computer systems is required including: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and email systems). Web-based program experience is a plus.
    • Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot.
    • Ability to motivate and delegate tasks to subordinates and ensure follow through.
    • Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
    • Actively involved and engaged as a leader in all areas of the company.
