  • Responsibilities

    DESCRIPTION

    This position verifies the accuracy of machine-generated images on rolling stock and determines if image selections generated by the system´s vision algorithms are true or false, then uses these results to identify potential concerns for immediate resolution and train further iterations of the neural networks.

    Uses highly developed specialized skills to complete a wide range of tasks and procedures. Generates innovative solutions to complex processes or problems. Proposes improvements to processes. Delivers work, which directly impacts quality of team output to agreed timescales, service levels or similar metric.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Analyzes all images generated by the system in a meticulous way to identify potential concerns for immediate resolution.
    • Applies technical knowledge of regulatory specifications and standards to validate the incoming images.
    • Coordinates with field operation on the validation of defects shown in the system.
    • Makes decisions based on the level of defects/risks discovered.
    • Inputs car and locomotive defects/instructions in multiple systems.
    • Communicates with CID (Critical Incident desk), MACM (Mechanical Assistance Coordination Mexico), NOC (Network Operation Coordination), and all field mechanical locations for train handling and car management.
    • Provides reports/analytics to show trends and deviations for corrective actions needed.
    • Helps develop new algorithms based on defect anomaly behavior detection.
    • Exemplifies KCS Vision, Values, and Culture in each and every interaction with team, clients, and stakeholders.

     

    IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

    REQUIRED

    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Minimum five (5) years of relevant operations experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Specialist knowledge of one or more disciplines of railroad operations

    PREFERRED

    • English writing 50% or higher.

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Proficient in FRA (Federal Railroad Administration) regulation.
    • Proficient in AAR (Association of American Railroads) rules.
    • Proficient in SCT (Secretaria de Comunicaciones y Transportes) norms.
    • Strong proficiency in the use of computers.
    • Knowledge of RailcarRx.
    • Excellent attention to detail.
    • Teamwork skills.
    • Be able to work extended hours in front of computer.
    • Able to work on different / multiple shifts as needed including weekends, holidays, etc.
    • Shift work is an essential function of this job. Employees must have the ability and willingness to support critically important railroad operations 24 hours per day/7 days per week, working various shifts as assigned. Schedule assignments may include after-hours, weekends and holidays.
    • On-call responsibilities are an essential function of this job. Employees must have the ability and willingness to support operations of critically important systems and/or processes 24 hours per day/7 days per week. On-call assignments may include after-hours, weekends and holidays.
    • This position may require minimal travel up to 10% of the time.
