    DESCRIPTION

    This position performs complex technical training instruction and is sought out as technical resource by business unit leaders. It has a solid instructional design background and is knowledgeable in a variety of learning delivery vehicles. This role develops, facilitates, and maintains advanced technical subject matter courses. It performs project management duties, such as coordinating and administrating existing long-term training programs, vendor management and contract administration. It evaluates overall performance of students and training programs, leads participants of training programs and actively participates in communications and with business unit leaders to refine training requirements. Works independently and receives minimal guidance. Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions. Leads projects with moderate scope, risks, and resource requirements. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Develops and manages operational initiatives to deliver tactical results.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Develops, installs and administers the computer scenarios needed to train and test locomotive engineers on locomotive simulator equipment.
    • Provides new-hire and promotion training and current employee mandatory compliance training (Federal Licenses). Delivers this training at specific hiring and working locations around the KCS network and ensures delivered content meets all company and federal requirements.
    • Provides continuing education regarding safety and operating rules.
    • Ensures all technical employees are trained to work safely and efficiently.
    • Responsible for 100% compliance documentation of delivered training content in either a classroom, on-line, or blended learning solution to include mobile.
    • Maintains an ongoing process of evaluating and utilizing current and new technology to enhance the overall training process
    • Exemplifies KCS Vision, Values, and Culture in each and every interaction with team, clients, and stakeholders.

    IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

    REQUIRED

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in a job related major field of study
    • Minimum five (5) years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

    PREFERRED

    • Post-secondary education; 3 years technical training experience and 2 years in a project management work role.
    • 2 years of experience as Road Engineer.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    • This position has a regular full time schedule with a normal work week of Monday through Friday. There may be a need for occasional work after hours or weekends.
    • This position may require minimal travel up to 10% of the time.
