    STGi is currently seeking a Physical Therapist- PT to support a VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic in located in Oxnard, California.

    The Physical Therapist (PT) provides treatment that promotes the prevention, remediation and rehabilitation of acute and chronic physical and psychosocial dysfunction.

    The Physical Therapist will perform the following job functions:

    Clinical:

    • Provides standard direct PT patient care as assigned delivering Physical Therapy services according to program requirements .
    • Screens patients for Physical Therapy services for appropriateness, types of services and rehabilitation potential.
    • Independently develops and implements Physical therapy treatment using professional judgment to modify the treatment as a result of changing medical conditions.
    • Evaluates a wide range of patients with complex disabilities to determine level of function using standardized and non-standardized tests

    SUPERVISORY CONTROLS:

    The incumbent is under the general supervision of the Physical Therapy Section Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service Program goals and objectives are provided. The employee is responsible for planning and carrying out the assignment. resolving most of the conflicts that arise, coordinating the work with others as necessary and interpreting policy on own initiative in terms of established objectives in some assignments, the employee also determines the approach to be taken and the methodology to be used.The employee keeps the supervisor informed of progress on participation in any advanced procedures, and on potentially controversial matters.

    CUSTOMER SERVICE:

    Relationships with management, co-workers, patients, and the general public is consistently courteous. respectful, and cooperative m nature. Incumbent will display a cooperative attitude and will effectively work together to implement the organization's mission and goals. Incumbent will ensure productivity is maintained at the established level for the program for which he/she is responsible .

    AGE-SPECIFIC CRITERIA:

    Age-specific care, as identified in the Age-Specific Competencies (see Age-Specific Competencies Checklist), including knowledge of changes associated with aging and principles of growth and development relevant to the adult and geriatric age groups; ability to assess and interpret data about the patient' s status; and ability to identify age-specific needs and provide the appropriate care based upon the age related factors noted.

    Takes into consideration age-related differences of the various veteran populations served and is competent to evaluate the patient as follows:

    a) Young Adulthood (20 to 40): DemonstJates ability to evalu:ite patient progress in developing a career, forming intimate re!at1onsbips,selecting a healthy life style, and acquiring solid problem solving skills.

    b) Middle Age (40 to 65}: Demonstrates ability to evaluate to evaluate patient progress in the following areas: attaining personal growth and me1ming; maintaining balance in terms of family life, work, and community involvement; and, health maintenance/prevention of illness.

    c) Senior Adulthood (65 to 75): Demonstrates ability to evaluate patient adaptation to retirement, adjustment to decreased body functioning, and capacity for dealing with inevitable losses.

    Middle old (74-84}: Demonstrates ability to evaluated patient adaptation to declines in speed of movement, n:action time, and sensory abilities and degree to which persons may have increasing dependence on others.

    Elder Adulthood (85+): Demonstrates ability to evaluate the following:patient safety issues secondary to decrease in sensory, motor. :ind cognitive functioning: status of chronic medical conditions; maintenance of social relationships to avoid isolation: and. patient progress in life review in order to achieve psychological integration.

    BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

    EDUCATION - Graduate from a degree program in physical therapy from an approved college or university approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). The CAPTE is the only accreditation agency recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) to accredit entry-level physical therapy programs.

    Foreign Graduates. Graduates of foreign physical therapy programs meet the requirements in subparagraph 2b if they have a full unrestricted and current license to practice physical therapy in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Any PT who has, or has ever had, any license(s) revoked, suspended, denied, restricted, limited, or issued/placed in a probational status may be appointed only in accordance with regulations issued by the Under Secretary for Health or designee.

    LICENSURE - Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice physical therapy in California.
