- Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
- Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
- Repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots.
- Basic understanding of PLC programming principles and techniques with consideration for operator and equipment safety.
- Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect and repair any malfunctions.
- Performs both routine and repair maintenance on industrial pumps.
- Performs both routine and repair maintenance on scrap conveyors.
- Discusses machine operation variations with supervisors, operators, or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
- Understand and adhere to wiring standards as specified in NFPA 79 (NEC) code books and use “best practices” for wiring equipment.
- Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
- Repairs and maintains the physical structure of the establishment.
- Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.
- Operates cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
- Fabricates and repairs tables, benches, racks and other metal structures.
- Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
- Must use electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics for troubleshooting.
- Must complete required classes in accordance with designated General Repair II Program.
- Understands, supports, and implements the company safety policies; Quality policy, housekeeping; and continuous improvement skills into daily work habits.
- Understands and adheres to all safety guidelines as required by OSHA and specified in the L&W mechanical/electrical standard (BMES) document.
