    FLSA Classification: Non-exempt FT (Monday – Friday, 11:30 pm to 8:30 pm and Saturdays as needed)

    Compensation: $22 per hour, plus benefits

    SUMMARY:

    The Wooden Floor’s mission is to inspire and transform the lives of young people through the power of dance and access to higher education. Our Student Support Services Department is a key part of this mission, providing continuous supervision and tailored support to students at our Main Street and Depot at Santiago locations. We believe in nurturing relationships and fostering a supportive, growth-oriented environment for both students and staff.

    The Student and Family Engagement Associate plays a vital role in fostering strong connections between students, families, and staff across The Wooden Floor. This individual works closely with the Director of Student Development to coordinate student and family workshops, celebrations, field trips and special events to build community and engagement. Acting as a bilingual liaison in English and Spanish, the Leader communicates clearly and compassionately with families, supports cross-department collaboration, and helps maintain accurate attendance and data records. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, demonstrates strong organizational skills, follows through on assignments, and contributes to a welcoming and supportive community for all students and families.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Support part-time Student Support Services Receptionists and Mentors (SSSMs) at both Main Street and Depot at Santiago by offering day-to-day guidance, assisting with task coordination, and sharing performance observations with the Director of Student Development.

    Ensure Depot at Santiago program requirements are met through accurate data tracking, creation of program calendars, and monthly reports.

    Maintain dressing rooms at the Main Street location and manage dancewear inventory in collaboration with the Dance Education Coordinator, ensuring alignment with inventory and purchasing policies.

    Serve as a bilingual liaison (English/Spanish) between students, families, and departments, ensuring clear and timely communication and coordination.

    Build strong relationships with students and families by setting clear expectations and promoting participation in dance and student support services.

    Oversee tuition tracking, including follow-up communication and timely reporting.

    Monitor tuition payments and manage dance class attendance, maintaining regular communication with students and families about expectations, absences, and re-engagement.

    Balance multiple program-related responsibilities using strong time management and attention to detail.

    Follow organizational policies and procedures while exercising sound judgment in daily decisions.

    Prepare and present departmental reports, track student progress and outcomes with accurate, consistent documentation.

    Support the planning and execution of enrichment activities and events such as registration, student celebrations workshops, and field trips by Managing all logistics, communication, and promotion.

    Take and distribute notes from weekly Student Support Services meetings to ensure staff are informed and aligned on agenda topics.

    ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability, taking on additional tasks as needed to support the overall success of The Wooden Floor and its programs.

    Represent The Wooden Floor at outreach and student support events—including occasional evenings and weekends.

    Support student success by fostering a positive and meaningful experience through mentorship, emotional support, advisement, and connecting students and alumni with helpful resources.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, education, humanities, or related fields, required.

    Minimum of two years of experience working with children in social services, recreation, or after-school organizations.

    Fluency in Spanish (oral and written) required.

    Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

    COMPUTER & EQUIPMENT SKILLS:

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

    Ability to maintain and update electronic and paper student records.

    PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    Occasionally bend, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, handle objects, push/pull, and reach above shoulder level.

    Frequently sit, walk, and use fine finger movements.

    Occasionally lift and carry loads up to 25 pounds.

    Ability to pass a criminal background check.

    Reliable transportation to and from work.

    Detail-oriented and dependable with the ability to manage multiple ongoing tasks ensuring timely execution of department initiatives.
