QUALITY TECHNICIAN:
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: TO ENSURE THAT THE FINAL PRODUCT CONFORMS TO THE REQUIRED QUALITY STANDARDS AS PER CUSTOMER REQUIREMENT.
SOME DUTIES WOULD INCLUDE:
MFG SUPPORT:
To perform product, process and dock audits as per schedule.
- Find the root cause of audit findings and transfer information to Team Leaders and Supervisors.
- Oversee Inspectors on shift, stand-in for Inspectors when necessary.
- Review and sign off inspection sheets daily, and provide originals to Quality Assembly Engineer and provide summary report to Quality Engineer / Manager.
- Review trends and issues on the line, investigate issues and provide solutions. Follow up with Mfg and Engineers on actions until closed out.
- Review trends of issues with operators / team leaders and create quality awareness to reduce reworks by mfg right first time.
- CFT member for customer concerns.
- Create Quality Highlights and Quality Alerts for lines responsible and train accordingly.
- Manage containment activities for responsible lines.
- Quality War Room Team Member
- Report on absenteeism and report replacements.
- Train Inspectors on new and existing Job Instructions (100% inspection).
- Oversee rework process and sign off all reworked harnesses.
- Maintain housekeeping according to 5’s.
Engineering Support
- Assist in new product development and changes:
- Assembly Board Validations: Dimensional according to drawing, Tool conditions, Visual Aids, Component Aids, Process Instructions. Raise open issues and follow up until closed out.
- Clip check Validations: Dimensional according to drawing, Tool conditions and fixture orientation, Tool Poke-Yoke, Visual Aids, Component Aids, Process Instructions. Raise open issues and follow up until closed out.
- Off-line Testing Validations: Validate programme, validate modules, validate poke-yoke, validate visual aids and process instructions. Raise open issues and follow up until closed out.
- Ensure new/changed Dimensional Layout sheets are prepared correctly (Mark inspections in colors, add clip orientations etc) and train line checkers on relevant changes.
- Coordinate preparation of Master Harness and verify dimensions and check components used according to drawing and master sample board.
- Coordinate 100% Dimensional for PPAP submission
- Assist Quality Engineer with any other ADHOC activities.
Required Skills
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Grade 12 essential
Degree/Diploma in Quality and/or related field advantageous
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Attention to Detail, communication and interpersonal skills is required. An assertive individual who is able to multi task in a pressurised environment would be ideal.
Required Experience
RELATED EXPERIENCE
2 years experience in a Quality function in Assembly area essential.
