    DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

     

    The ideal candidate will be a licensed architect who has experience working with an architectural/engineering team in preparing documents for both new construction and renovation projects. Experience with transportation projects such as airports, railways and bus stations for various public agencies and entities is needed. The ideal candidate is hands-on¤ in the computer with drawing programs and will assist with architectural design work from concept design through construction documentation for projects requiring interface, collaboration and coordination with various disciplines and consultants. Responsible for seeing the project through to construction and project closeout.  Ability to prepare architectural drawings, utilizes a strong knowledge of building technology; and/or supervises their execution for all phases of a project. Executes code analysis, material selections, and coordinates with specifications writer.  Plan, schedule, coordinate, manage and oversee the work of other members of the project team including architects and engineers.

     

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    • Determine collectively with project management, the scope, schedule, deliverables, work plan, technical approach, quality and design criteria for projects
    • Generate cartoon sets and bear full responsibility for completion of construction drawings and specifications
    • Create day-to-day work plan and delegate tasks to team members
    • Responsible for project delivery
    • Lead and coach junior architectural staff
    • Perform independent investigations, studies, and architectural analysis
    • Develop design details, plans and specifications
    • Serve as quality control reviewer
    • Use computer software as a design tool for solving complex architectural problems
    • Contribute new designs, or techniques which are of material significance in the solution of important problems
    • Remain current in codes appropriate to the architecture discipline including IBC, IECC, NYCBC, NFPA, ADA, etc. 
    • Ensure conformance with standards, established architectural practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction
    • Review of shop drawings and Requests for Information

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

     

    • A professional degree in architecture (B Arch or M Arch) 
    • Minimum of 8 years of work experience, preferably with transportation projects such as airport, railways, bus stations etc.
    • High level of proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office--knowledge of MicroStation is a plus
    • Ability to model in 3ds Max and Rhino is a plus
    • Architectural license/registration
    • LEED accreditation is a plus
    • Strong design and technical skills
    • Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and time management skills
    • Positive attitude, detail-oriented, strong work ethic and teamwork skills.
    • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and to coordinate with other disciplines and team members
    • High level of knowledge of building technology, construction techniques, related engineering principles, building codes and assembly of construction drawings
    • The candidate should be a self-starter with a passion for problem solving, an understanding that project success comes through teamwork, and a firm focus on client needs.
