    NATURE OF POSITION:

    The Houseman assists and supports the Inspectors and Room Attendants in meeting quality and timeliness standards. Perform any combination of light cleaning duties to maintain resort establishments in a clean and orderly manner. Duties may include making beds, replenishing linens, cleaning rooms and halls, and vacuuming. Provide the very best service to ensure that owners and guests have a positive vacation experience.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Carry linens, towels, toilet items, and cleaning supplies, using wheeled carts.
    • Disinfect equipment and supplies, using germicides or steam-operated sterilizers.
    • Empty wastebaskets, empty and clean ashtrays, and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas.
    • Observe precautions required to protect hotel and guest property and report damage, theft, and found articles to supervisors.
    • Replenish supplies, such as drinking gasses, linens, writing supplies, and bathroom items.
    • Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies, using vacuum cleaners and shampooers.
    • Dust and polish furniture and equipment.
    • Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
    • Move and arrange furniture and turn mattresses.
    • Hang draperies and dust window blinds.
    • Request repair services and wait for repair workers to arrive.
    • Sort, count, and mark clean linens and store them in linen closets.
    • Run errands, such as taking laundry to the cleaners.
    • Remove debris from driveways, garages, and swimming pool areas.
    • Deliver television sets, ironing boards, baby cribs, and rollaway beds to guests’ rooms.
    • Replace light bulbs.
    • Answer telephones and doorbells.

    SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

    • Be punctual and comply with hourly work schedules.
    • Present a professional image and wear proper uniform (Sun Shirt, Tan or Khaki Pants, Name Tag, Non-slip Shoes)
    • Assist guests and owners and resolve complaints promptly.
    • Utilize supplies and equipment efficiently and effectively.
    • Maintain interior and exterior cleanliness of van.

    • Ability to frequently push or pull up to 25 lbs.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • High school diploma, or equivalent preferred
    • Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds.
    • Must be familiar with Sun Hospitality Standard Operating procedures
    • Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.
