    JOB SUMMARY: The Manufacturing Manager directs, manages and coordinates all activities associated with manufacturing of our prototype and fast-turn circuit board assembly and advanced packaging placement (BGA, COB, COG), including up to full system integration. This position is responsible for the efficient and quality manufacturing of company products in conformance with established goals and objectives. The Manufacturing Manager is directly accountable for leading the manufacturing organization to a level of performance identifiable with world-class organizations, utilizing lean production and continual improvement techniques. Reporting directly to the VP of Operations, the Manufacturing Manager will have responsibility for all aspects of our electronic hardware manufacturing from concept through the entire Product Life Cycle. The Manufacturing Manager will work with leaders from teams across the company, including Master Scheduling, Quality, Test, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, and Program Management (Sales) to execute the master schedule. Finally, the Manufacturing Manager is expected to hire and develop personnel to help ensure the efficient operation of all aspects of hardware manufacturing.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (Other duties may be assigned):

    Manages all Incoming, Manufacturing, and Receiving/Shipping operations.

    Reviews and implements the master production schedules, is a key contributor to its development, and confers with department supervisors to determine part status, identify and resolve bottlenecks, and monitor the WIP orders throughout the shop floor process.

    Consults with engineering and quality assurance regarding machine uptime and issues, reviews quality-related issues and takes relevant corrective actions.

    Coordinates with supporting departments including Engineering, Document Control, Supply Chain, and Program Managers to coordinate production and shipping activities, resolve conflicts or eliminate delays, and ensure customer commitments are met.

    Assist the Supply Chain in investigating and reporting material shortages and product delays to schedule.

    Arrange for the movement of material throughout the process, assembly, and distribution of supplies and parts to expedite the flow of materials and meet production schedules and plans.

    Examine documents, materials, and products, and monitor work processes, to assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications.

    Gather and record production data, including overall equipment effectiveness, capacity utilization, downtime, machine uptime, volume produced, and other various metrics as required.

    Identify areas of improvement for efficiencies and establish goals and objectives to ensure manufacturing is operating at an optimal capability.

    Provides input to manufacturing engineering efforts to ensure company facilities and equipment are adequately designed, built, and maintained. The emphasis will be on robust equipment/processes utilizing poke-yoke techniques and quick changeover. Likewise, create strategies to reduce labor costs, reduce scrap, and ensure a product free of defects.

    Provide leadership in continuous improvement activities and successfully enable scalability to achieve our goals of meeting quality, cost, and delivery objectives.

    Other activities:

    Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including safety requirements and ISO9001 quality system standards.

    Participate in formulating and administering company policies and manufacturing training initiatives.

    Proactively work with product management, marketing, and engineering (development and QA) teams to provide hardware development solutions and manufacturing engineering support.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Candidate will exhibit characteristics of a leader who is determined, results-oriented, persuasive, and a strong communicator.

    Practical experience leading lean manufacturing operations for highly configurable product

    Ability to lead and mentor staff to achieve significant results and develop future leaders/managers.

    Strong, confident, proactive leader who sets agenda and takes ownership of situations with a collaborative, inclusive style.

    Ability to influence, innovate, negotiate, and gain commitment at all organizational levels in driving change.

    Possess high professional ethics, good judgment, and ability to take decisive action.

    Superb communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.

    Experience developing safety and health programs compliant with OSHA requirements.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct supervisor of manufacturing employees.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or other Engineering Degree from a four-year college or university.

    Master degree and/or Six Sigma/Black Belt certification preferred.

    Computer experience: MRP System, MS Word, Excel, Adobe

    10+ years of experience managing teams is required

    10+ years of experience in global manufacturing leadership position strongly preferred

    May be required to submit for Federal security clearance.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret routine scientific and technical information.

    Ability to effectively present information to management

    Ability to read and speak English fluently.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs and other production metrics.

    REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

    Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form and to deal with several abstract and discreet variables.
