    Role Summary

    This position will handle all aspects of portfolio management for the Bank’sSBA government guaranteed loan portfolio. As applicable, this position will also use expertise to assist, mentor, and train other employees as a resource on appropriate servicing responsibilities.

    As directed, this position will perform all portfolio management tasks for the SBA Lending Government Guaranteed Loan Portfolio. This will include monitoring the overall portfolio health, past dues, financial and insurance ticklers, Annual Reviews and SBA/USDA policies and procedures, reassessment of risk grades, servicing actions, and communication with SBA/USDA on credits experiencing payment performance issues, liquidation, deferments, etc.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Obtain, and keep up to date, a comprehensive knowledge of the SBA and USDA lending programs and other government guaranty programs as deemed necessary.
    • Ensure proper portfolio management oversight is followed per SBA/USDA Standard Operating Procedures and policies, including but not limited to the following:
      • Monitoring and Collecting Past Dues/Delinquencies
      • Monitoring the Matured Loan Report
      • Performing Servicing Actions (collateral releases, guarantor releases, payment modifications, etc.)
      • Completing SBA required notices and obtaining the necessary and SBA approvals, modifications and 327s as applicable.
    • Serve as a resource in terms of answering questions and/or a general sounding board on the SBA and USDA lending programs as needed and post close issues.
    • Coordinate with Commercial Operations to ensure loan servicing records, billing, ten-tab files, imaging, etc. are up to date.
    • Complete annual reviews for each existing SBA loan which may include business and personal financial analysis, credit analysis, lien perfection, property value research, industry comparisons, identifying risks and mitigating factors, and recommending loan grading.
      • Can articulate the key financial trends, borrower, guarantor and global cash flows along with the key non-financial risks of the credit into a well-organized narrative credit analysis with little to no guidance necessary.
    • Additional portfolio management responsibilities to include:
      • Financial Tickler Management and Financial Statement Collection.
      • Insurance Tickler Management and Insurance Policy Collection.
      • Assist in preparing new and / or existing SBA loan files for SBA and/or other regulatory audits.
      • Post close review and audit of each originated loan’s Ten-Tab file.
      • Acquire, execute and/or complete any necessary documentation required for a clean file to ensure readiness for internal and external audits.
    • Assist with underwriting of new requests as needed, including preparing financial spreads, projections, cash flow worksheets and risk rating matrices and documenting in a well-organized narrative credit analysis with little to no guidance necessary.
    • Construction Disbursement and Monitoring in conjunction with Bank and SOP Guidelines.
    • Oversight of, and coordination with, the Loan Service Provider portfolio management functions including financial and insurance tickler monitoring and collection, payment reconciliation for multi-draw notes, providing advance activity on lines of credit and multi-draw notes, and other functions as they arise.
    • Work directly with customers and third parties to obtain information needed to perform annual reviews, modifications, tickler item collection, post-close documentation exception management, and complete servicing actions.

     

    Your Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college in Business, Accounting or Finance preferred or 5 years+ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • 3+ years’ experience in SBA/USDA portfolio management
    • Proven underwriting and decision-making experience, with a demonstrated track record of effective problem solving. Successful track record in managing credit risk. Experience in commercial loan documentation highly desired
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to work independently to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects and processes
    • Is accessible to staff, works with a sense of urgency and treats all employees with respect
    • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications
    • Familiarity with all federal and state banking regulations pertaining to lending and consumer compliance, including fair lending laws
