    SWA is seeking talented, design oriented candidates with three to five years of professional experience in landscape architecture.  Dual degree holders in landscape architecture and another field are encouraged to apply.  Our Houston studio is searching for the next generation of talented and enthusiastic design professionals. Our current work is transforming Houston, the country's 4th largest city, through innovative public, civic and private projects that revitalize open spaces, re-purpose infrastructure, re-imagine the public realm and reinvent master-planned communities. SWA Houston designers are taking the lead in solving urban problems with national significance such as flooding, density, health and housing challenges for many other cities. Internationally our Houston studio is hard at work creating landscapes that are culturally and ecologically resonant and synthesizing complex systems to create open spaces for new cities or urban precincts.

    Working with us in this role, you may be responsible for:

    • Design (design studies, sketches, and conceptual studies using hand drawing and digital media)
    • 3D modeling
    • Rendering
    • Producing presentation graphics and presentations
    • Assisting in preparation of construction drawings/documents, sets (grading plans, planting plans, layout and lighting plans, technical details and specifications)
    • Assist in development of site development plans submitted for development approval in conformance with plans, specifications, and ordinances
    • Compiling and analyzing data on site conditions
    • Assist in preparation of proposals, contracts, cost estimates, technical reports and memos
    • Attending and participating in meetings (incl. oral presentations, interaction with clients, consultant teams, and travel)
    • Work with senior designers on a collaborative team from conceptual design through construction documentation

    Requirements:

    • A professional undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited program in landscape architecture

    The ideal candidate has:

    • 3-5 years professional experience in a landscape architecture office

    • Experience with schematic design, design development, and construction documents
    • Demonstrated the ability to successfully work directly with clients and other consultants
    • Demonstrated the ability to successfully direct the work of junior staff and train entry level designers
    • Technical understanding of landscape architecture site development elements
    • Licensure as a landscape architect, planner, or architect, or is in the process of becoming licensed
    • Proficiency in:
    • o AutoCAD 2014+
    • o Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, esp.)
    • o Microsoft Office
    • o 3D modeling (SketchUp or Rhino)
    • o Google Earth Pro
    • o Hand sketching

    Additional experience with the following is desirable:

    o Lumion

    o Revit

    o Grasshopper

    o ArcMap/ ArcGIS

    o Bluebeam Revu
