    Summary of Job Responsibilities: The Cryogenics Service Technician is responsible for collaborating with the Operations Manager, Sales Manager, and General Manager, and department personnel to carry out day to day operations including installation, maintenance, and removal of bulk gas product and delivery systems. This position will also work with internal and external sales personnel to recommend, evaluate, and implement solutions per customer demand. The Cryogenics Service Technician will report directly to the General Manager.

    Qualifications:

    1. Education Requirements: A mechanical, electrical, HVAC or related degree preferred or equivalent industry experience. Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required.

    2. Knowledge Requirements: Thorough understanding of the technical aspects of cryogenic gases required either in advance or within 6 months (with on-the-job training) of position acquisition. Mechanically inclined with excellent troubleshooting skills and a basic knowledge of welding, silver brazing, electrical AC and DC circuitry also required. Enjoy working in a fast-paced physical environment with a focus on project pride and completion.

    3. Experience: 2+ years of industry experience preferred. Experience in an industrial gas supply business preferred.

    4. Skills & Abilities:

    Strong mechanical skills and hands on experience with mechanical piping to include silver brazing

    Technical capabilities across all sectors, (refrigeration experience a plus)

    Basic electrical knowledge.

    Strong technical background.

    Self-motivated and self-sufficient.

    Excellent customer service focus.

    Basic computer literacy, including intermediate use of the Internet and Microsoft Office programs.

    Excellent communication skills.

    Exceptional problem-solving and detail oriented.

    Comprehensive industry knowledge preferred.

    Strong commitment to serve both SYOXSA customers and the sales department in a professional manner.

    Effectively work with customers and the sales department to identify needs and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

    1. Physical Demands:

    Regularly required to lift up to 50 pounds and move products or materials weighing 100+ pounds with the assistance of material handling equipment or other employees.

    Regularly work outdoors under all weather conditions.

    The ability to work 8 or more hours per day per individual project demand, during equipment servicing, installation, or product removals.

    1. Travel Requirements:

    Out of town travel to service the SYOXSA market area.

    Overnight/out of town travel, typically up to 3 days/2 nights will be required, per project demand.

    Out of town travel for training and service schools.

    Job Responsibilities:

    1. Responsible for the installation and removal of bulk cryogenic and non-cryogenic systems to include Nitrogen, Oxygen, Argon, CO2, Hydrogen, and Helium systems in the assigned coverage area.

    Communicate with manager and coworkers on project requirements and needs.

    Coordinate trucking and crane service for delivery of equipment to worksite.

    Set and anchor all equipment to concrete pad.

    Pipe bulk storage tanks to required equipment and customers’ use point.

    Perform safety inspections of total equipment system.

    Coordinate and supervise “first fill” of bulk storage tanks.

    Perform initial set up and testing of system.

    Meet with appropriate customer contacts to ensure the installed system’s performance is satisfactory; provide customer with an operational overview of the installation.

    Respond to any safety related questions that arise.

    Follow up and keep the appropriate sales personnel informed of the status of the installation and any customer concerns that come up.

    Put customer in contact with appropriate store personnel within closest SYOXSA branch to ensure any continued needs are met.

    1. Maintain and troubleshoot bulk cryogenic and non-cryogenic systems as needed.

    Monitor tank operating status via internet telemetry systems.

    Periodically conduct safety and operational audits.

    Respond, troubleshoot, and repair equipment during customer emergencies.

    Purchase supplies as needed for repairs and maintenance.

    Research techniques, procedures, and new products via Internet.

    Contact manufacturers as needed.

    Work to implement solutions as directed by manager.

    1. Purchase supplies and equipment required for maintenance and installation of bulk gases equipment and support services for the sales department.

    Maintain a purchase order log and enter all purchase orders into the SYOXSA computer system.

    Contact suppliers to acquire parts and equipment as necessary to install and maintain SYOXSA bulk equipment and support SYOXSA sales activity.

    Ensure that all purchases are properly expensed, billed or otherwise accounted for.

    1. Track time and materials on projects and ensure all are properly expensed or billed as appropriate.

    Communicate time and material demands to Manager.

    Maintain record of time and materials spent on projects.

    Enter billing invoices in to SYOXSA accounting software (Trendex).

    1. Follow SYOXSA safety policies, procedures, and goals.

    Adhere to SYOXSA safety policies as stated in SYOXSA employee handbook.

    Participate in periodic safety meetings.

    Comply with all customer safety requirements and training while on location at customer sites.

    1. Interface with suppliers.

    Contact suppliers regarding orders, new product introductions, defective products, promotions, and service concerns.

    Maintain a working knowledge of supplier products and availability of products.

    Use discretion in making fair and sound decisions in price competitive situations, return of defective product or other supplier related issues that may arise.

    Contact schedulers or product support personnel regarding SYOXSA needs.

    Initiate relationships with new suppliers and vendors as needed.

    Authorize product returns and exchanges.

    Follow up on order problems or mis-shipments and prioritize response based on upcoming customer needs.

    Maintain and project the professional reputation of SYOXSA through all professional interactions.

    1. Participate in Departmental Meetings.

    Communicate information on status of projects and other departmental initiatives.

    Provide training as appropriate to employees and/or other departments.

    1. Assume responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication, coordination and working relations with all SYOXSA employees.

    Keep management informed of activities and significant problems or concerns within the Cryogenics department.

    Provide suggestions for improved efficiency, productivity, and communication opportunities.

    Attend and participate in training as required or determined by Manager.

    Contribute to other departmental initiatives as set forth by the Cryogenics.
