Construction Safety Coordinator – Heavy Civil

Location: Oakland, CA (Oakland Airport / Port of Oakland)

Project: Oakland Airport Dike Infrastructure Project

Start Date: March 2026

Duration: 6 Months (Potential Extension)

Professional Safety Solutions is seeking an experienced Construction Safety Coordinator to support a major heavy civil infrastructure project located at the Oakland Airport / Port of Oakland. This project involves the construction of a perimeter flood protection dike system, requiring strong safety oversight in a dynamic environment adjacent to active airport and port operations.

This position requires a safety professional with hands-on heavy civil experience who can actively support field operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote a strong safety culture across the project site.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and enforce site safety programs and policies in alignment with OSHA and company standards.
• Conduct daily safety inspections, hazard assessments, and job hazard analyses (JHAs).
• Lead daily toolbox talks and safety briefings for field crews.
• Monitor high-risk activities associated with heavy civil construction, including earthwork and large-scale infrastructure work.
• Ensure compliance with all site safety plans, environmental requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns, and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate safety documentation, reports, and compliance records.
• Collaborate with project management, superintendents, and subcontractors to promote safe work practices.
• Support a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement on site.

Minimum Requirements

• 5+ years of construction safety experience.
• Strong background in heavy civil construction, such as:
• Earthwork
• Marine or coastal work
• Large-scale infrastructure projects
• OSHA 30 (Construction) required.
• Current First Aid / CPR certification required.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment near active port and airport operations.
• Strong communication, leadership, and documentation skills.

Schedule & Compensation

• Schedule: Monday – Friday
• Shift: 5 x 10s (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
• Per Diem: Available 5 days per week for qualified non-local candidates who meet distance requirements.
