    SUMMARY

    We are seeking a hands-on Safety Director to lead and continuously improving company-wide safety strategy across all utility vegetation management operations in the San Antonio, TX area. As a Safety Director, you will ensure the development, implementation, and oversight of safety programs that protect employees, meet regulatory requirements, and drive measurable reductions in safety incidents and risk exposure.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • The Safety Director oversees Field Safety Trainers, coordinates all safety-related training and events, partners cross-functionally with HR and Fleet leadership, and drives improvements in safety KPIs across the organization.
    • Foster a proactive, safety-first culture throughout the organization.
    • Serve as the executive point of contact for safety performance and initiatives.
    • Track, analyze, and report safety KPIs including TRIR, DART, EMR, vehicle incidents, and near-miss trends.
    • Identify root causes of incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
    • Establish measurable goals to continuously drive down incident rates and improve overall safety performance.
    • Conduct regular safety performance reviews with operations leadership.
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI, DOT, and utility client requirements.
    • Partner with the HR Director to: Improve onboarding safety integration. Manage workers’ compensation and return-to-work processes alongside Risk Manager. Align disciplinary and performance policies with safety expectations.
    • Collaborate with the Fleet Director to: Improve vehicle safety standards and driver performance. Reduce preventable vehicle incidents. Implement fleet-related safety technologies and policies.
    • Work closely with Operations leadership to ensure safety accountability at all levels.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • 7+ years of safety leadership experience (utility vegetation management, forestry, construction, or related field preferred)
    • Strong knowledge of OSHA, ANSI Z133, DOT, and utility safety standards
    • Experience managing safety trainers or multi-location safety programs
    • Proven track record of improving safety KPIs
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
    • Ability to work collaboratively with operations, HR, and fleet leadership
    • Industry-specific safety certifications recommended (CTSP, EHAP, ISA)
